Safe to eat eggs?

At Tractor Supply you'll find Safeguard in a 125ml bottle in the goat/cattle section, not in the chicken section. You could also use the paste, but it's more expensive per dose than the liquid. This is what Safeguard, Panacur and Valbazen look like:

On the package of duramycin it said treat 3-5 days. It was a yellow powder. It said mix 10ml per gallon of water. I did exactly what it said. Ok let me get this correct before I make a mistake. The dewormer safeguard for equine or goats can be used for chickens?

Yes, both are safe to use in all birds, reptiles and mammals of all ages, you just need to know the dose. The most effective Safeguard dose for poultry is .2ml per 2.2 pounds (20mg/kg) for three days, but sometimes I just give a single dose of .5ml per 2.2 pounds. Ignore the dosing instructions on the bottle or tube, that's for horses or goats and for some reason they get less mg per pound than chickens. I give an sized RIR hen either 1.5ml once or .6ml three days in a row.

I understand. I'm getting a little panicky being overwhelmed. I've only been at this just a few weeks now.

We can go slow... ask any question(s) and I'll do my best to answer. If I can't, I'm sure there are others that can.

Don't panic. Easier said then done I know when you are just starting out.

BUT, there is a ton of good info on this forum and Kathy is a veritable encyclopedia of excellent information!

Do what a lot of us do and start yourself a notebook about all this different stuff as you learn so you have a reference to look back on later. Veterinary help is sometimes nonexistent and often very expensive when it is available so it's good to learn all you can about chicken diseases and illness, how to treat, with what and dosing info.

Unfortunately I didn't have time as the store is far away. I have children with special needs so its hard to get done what I need and my local feed store isn't open till Tuesday
