Maybe it's because I'm so eager to get home. It's my favorite place to be.

Snow. On Halloween. 😱

It's not sticking to the ground, just some flakes in the air. Still. I'm not ready for winter. Let me rephrase that: I'm not ready for the concept of winter! I don't even want to think about: snow, cold, dark, chilly, slushy, slippery, windy. I want those terms to NOT apply to my situation.

Everyone ready for trick-or-treaters? We will have the same number as last year, I think.

And the 27 years before last year. That's right. Zero. Nada. Nary a one will brave the long, winding, dark, spooky road to come to our house!
:lau<-- imagine a witch's cackle

Where I worked (photo lab) wasn't deemed "essential," so we all went home.
Sally, being nosy today so hope you don't mind me jumping in.

When you said photo lab, do you mean like processing film and pictures? I ask because that was my dad's career and I dabbled in it too in my younger years.

Here too, about an inch or two, enough to cover all of the grass. It's half gone now. The silkies I see are sneaking back out of the coop. In a month, they won't act so timid, they'll just come running out down the snowy paths hubby makes for them. 😊

For some reason, I always feel like the trip home is shorter than the trip out. I noticed this when I was a kid, and it's been that way ever since.

Maybe it's because I'm so eager to get home. It's my favorite place to be.
The first day of our long distance trips always seems to be the longest. I think once you've done one long day the rest don't seem so bad.

We haven't had a trick or treater in 17 years. This year I have put my foot down, didn't buy any candy. My dh has diabetes, we're not having sugary stuff here to tempt him!

Yes, exactly. I never was a film processor at the lab, but I printed color photos in a darkroom and processed them on a Kreonite processor. I did a little bit of duplicating slides and transparencies (4x5 sheet film), and also internegatives (also 4x5 sheet film).

In college, I did process B&W, slide, and color negative film, and printed B&W and color in the dark room.

In my senior year at college (1985), I did some work with the dye transfer process. Very involved, not common (has anyone here heard of it?), and now no longer supported. (And hasn't been since 1994, 18 years before Kodak went bankrupt.) Why go to the bother? It was the most archivally stable medium at the time. Make a print, and in 100 years, it will still be there. The dyes were very stable, unlike the dyes in the film and paper of the day.

You're not nosy at all! Jump on in and say what's on your mind.
