Sally,,, Just wondering if you know about this bread. ??
A Dear friend has a restricted diet, and this is a bread he can eat. Told me to try some, Said it is quite good. It is slightly pricey compared to regular bread at bakeries, and stores,,,,,, But it is a specialty bread, and does make a long journey from where it is produced.

:goodpost:, I have same idea.

I intended to suggest a simple box with some hay, to create a comfy nest. Box with opening on top. Pine shavings work equally well. I just like using HAY.:thumbsup
One simple question.?
Are your nesting boxes large/high enough?? If the height is insufficient, then hen may not feel comfortable laying egg. They stand up during the final express.
Thank you for the suggestions.

The thing that puzzles me is I have had chickens in this coop for almost 11 years. I don't even know the exact number of hens that have laid in those boxes. Lots! All large fowl. Marans, Austalorpes, Wyandottes, big Ole Buff Orps and others. Buff Orp hatched and raised a clutch in one.

None ever rejected the nest boxes.
This one hen, we call Purdy Girl, is a mouthy Diva. Not lead hen and sweet to me but takes no junk off the other girls.

I'm starting to think she wants her own throne. Her own personal space no other fluffy butt touches.

Or she just wants an open box with no top.
I have a portable nest box for a different coop. Haven't tried it because it also has a top. I did try a large open pan.

She laid beside it. :he
Here is the offender.

Yes! Along with ENDLESS emails from them! I did "unsubscribe" from them, and that took care of it. I think.

I bought something from the "Favorites" catalog, and will not be using them again. I used to order from them every year. My item did arrive, and is fine. Here's why I won't use them again.

The paper catalog "urged" me to call and place my order, instead of sending it in by mail, because items could be on back order. Ok, even though I had 2 months before I needed the gift, I didn't want to not get it. So I called. Said up front I was ordering one item (that could have gone in one ear and out the other). Ordered my one item, and yes, it was on b/o and was expected to be in stock in two weeks. Plenty of time.

Your next item?
Nope, just the one.
But the next two items will be 15% off.
Don't need anything else, just the one.
But we have XYZ on sale.
Nope
, just the one.
Would you like to become a member of our (whatever) club? You can get (whatever perk).
No, thank you.
Blah blah blah about whatever other thing I can get you to sign up for?
Look, I know you have to say all this stuff, but I don't want anything else.
Your email address, so we can notify you of when your order ships?
Gave it to them, and wish I hadn't.

I am getting Favorites emails, 2-3 a day. I click on unsubscribe, and a mailer daemon says it cannot deliver it.
:barnie :tongue:he

I really like getting their catalog, just for the funny T-shirts they have. I got a shirt for a friend who is retiring at the end of the year. I don't know what the dress code is where she works, but maybe she could wear this on her last day:

I'm retired.
You're not.
Have fun going to work tomorrow.
I have finally figured out a good answer for companies I do not want to give my email to. It goes like this.

May I have your email please?
Umm, I do not use email.

Everyone uses email.
Umm, not me. Family are all local. I am retired so I have no need. I'm just an old lady out in the boonies with her chickens. No email needed.

Silence.
The answers are not in their script. They never know what to say.
:gig

She is BEAUTIFUL, ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ So she deserves an exception and a pass:old

Just curious,,, Is she a bantam Silver Seabright??
I had one just identical,,, that lived 13 years. My longest living chicken so far.

I'm wondering if there might be another explanation. Her antennae on the top of her head might be just slightly out of adjustment. This could send her the CPS (Coop Positioning System) signals slightly out of balance.

Thank you!

She is a Silver Laced Wyandotte. She is a really big heavy girl. When you pick her up she feels like she has rocks in her pockets.

In this pic she was squawking because she was trying to go broody. I had removed her from her floor nest and taken her egg.

I think you may be onto something.

🤔 I wonder if the CPS could affect their Egg Laying Apparatus?

Maybe I need to get her a GPS for Christmas???
😆

Today is Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.

It was also my grandfather's birthday. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, he never celebrated his birthday again. He did not want cards, cake, gifts. A quiet "Happy Birthday, Bob," was plenty.

Thinking of you, Banjo Grampa.
