Hello ,
Just wondering , If a chicken gets Salmonella can it be passed on though there eggs .

Thanks
The Newbie

Our state guy told us as a precaution to throw the eggs out however, if they are cooked properly then they would be fine.

Do your chickens have it???

They can get it through rat/mice feces and I am sure many other ways.

Sluggish, wings down, puffy eyes, not eating or drinking well, neck twitches, Diarrhea (spell???). Death usually occurs with 48 hours of contamination. You need to treat your flock for 10-14 days with Terramycin or Tetracycline.

No my chicks don't , I have two little kids and wanted to know if it was a possibility . I was reading some posts and read were they can get it from rat and mouse feces and I know we have mice in my hood our back yard is a green belt and I have seen evidence of them around . So how much should I worry about this .

Thanks

I wouldn't worry so much about it. Since you are in seattle near a green belt, I bet you have less mice and rats than if you lived down down town, and the ones you have are "healthier" than the true city pests.
