San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Finally some good news from my end! (though non chicken related).

One of the professors stated that she would pass everyone who achieved above a 75% on the final exam. With this in mind, I spent several hours studying my tail feathers off (also my first set of successful study sessions!) and I finally plucked up enough courage to check my final grades online.

I passed! ah, I'm so happy. ;A;

the sad part is that's basic/elementary algebra BUT I only need another semester of math before I can complete my program pre-reqs. I am living the American Dream.

Congratulations..... Woo Hoo..... I have neglected to ask but have wondered.... What is your major and which School are you going to?

My son is going to San Diego State now. His first semester. After getting his Associates at Cuyamaca and Grossmont. He finally decided what he wanted to declare as his major.... a prerequesite before San Diego State will take you. He wanted to go for his Astronomy degree.

Once he applied he was short one class to get into the major. He talked to admissions at State He found out they would let him in if the director of the department was OK with that.... Or something like that. Any hoo the one who had to approve also happened to also be the Student Advisor for the Astronomy department. Dr Arroz.....

So He took one class this last semester at state that was a prerequesite for getting in the Astronomy degree program.

I am attending Cypress College (a CCC) and I am studying mortuary science. So during the semester I commute between Cypress (North Orange County) and Northern SD. Not too bad, considering I come down on the weekends for $12.50 - the cost of a train and bus fare. But like Nursing, it's really competitive since that particular college is one of two that offer the education necessary.

Who knows? Maybe a few of my friends know your son! Six close buddies of mine go to SDSU (though I doubt it, since it's a such a huge campus.)

For my program, they changed the pre-reqs this year to higher math and higher biology (before it was introductory bio) so I couldn't apply this year for a spot. But, either this next semester or upcoming Fall, I should be ready to 'get in'. Only need two more courses for my gen ed and the math course.

Wow.... Just wow.... And of course it would take as much education as nursing.... It just didn't occur to me.

My son will be doing quite a few math and physics classes up to Quantum Physics Enough to get a Minor in it if he wants. But he will be doing other stuff like English and humanities and computers.... So if they are in those areas they might meet. Then there is all that Astronomy stuff he is itching to do... LOL. Hes already working for Dr Arroz on analyzing data for XO planets... When he started they knew of 200 now they have identified more than 600 XO planets.

As a Science fiction writer, I cant wait to see where it takes him... As a mom I am soo thrilled hs found something he has passion for.

I have 2 hens brooding right now in the winter. Is this common? Does anyone have this happening right now? My non setter Seabright just had her chicks 4 months ago and is brooding again?

Yes, totally normal. I have four that have been broody for a couple weeks now--3 Bantam Cochins and a Silkie mix. I think right after the equinox, when the days start to lengthen again, the message that spring is coming starts to stir things up. Even though the days are still short, I think it registers with them that they are increasing in length. Are you going to set some eggs? I set some last night
