San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

I believe and am pretty sure that the 1 ton bag needs to be of one type of feed for that price. I am sure that you can order the other items on their website to be delivered at the same time at a discounted rate. If we can get something together, I can ask and get all the details and speak to the salesperson.

Sorry, back to my hen poo!
Where can I get the necessary med? Feed store? What quanities to buy, etc. Where in SD can you find a vet to do the egg count? Our vet doesn't do fowl and the other local fowl vet wanted $40.00 for a full check up plus $27.00 for the fecal check!!

I have been checking their poo daily and haven't seen anything moving in it. But I feel I should deworm on principal. I'm planning on purchasing two MF cochin bantams on the 20th and want everything safe.

What I have noticed is some kind of bad smell to the poo that wasn't there at initially.

Thank you everyone!

I would try 1 bag at that price.

If I could sample any, that someone already has, to make sure my hens like it, I might get 2-3 bags. But I'd hate to have 150# of something they don't like.

We'd have to set it up so that we had a system. I tried doing this with my hay delivery with the neighbors. I'd order enough for a month...the idea being that we would get one delivery a month.
Problem is is that some wouldn't order enough then run down to the feed store and get more so then when the next month came they didn't need any or not enough anyhow to fill the order. I'd be willing to buy a couple of months worth at a time, but like Nancy, I'd like to try a bag first to make sure they'd eat it. Would they let us mix the first order just so that we could try the product? I'd be willing to buy a bag of BOSS too just to help fill the order.

I purchased the soy-free layer pellets and the scratch from Modesto. The girls will not eat the pellets - I have ground them up and put them in yogurt etc so as not to waste it. The scratch was very nice and well received. I did call Azure standard re: Cascade product and there is only one drop off point in North County (Fallbrook) - I called the contact on Sunday and have not heard back.

Re: Azure... That's not totally true. I've found that the people on the phone don't really know anything. I order from them and my drop off is by the Q Stadium, but they do have various locations around here including Santee. Only thing is they have to have an active person/ drop off point at that area. I have their route and drop off schedule booklet. Let me know if you want me to look something up for you.

I'm TOTALLY in on the bulk thing as long as I can get what I need.

Can you post the website so we can all look?

1 ton sounds like a lot, but if you break it down it's only 2 bags for 20 people or 3 bags for ten people... it's not actually that much!
