Poor guy!

So sorry to read about your loss, Cara.

Do not be too hard on yourself, maybe there was something wrong already with this little guy and that was the reason why he passed on to free range on greener pastures. Normally, no matter what size a chicken is, they can deal with the cold very well, better than we humans think.

Is there going to be another meet up? I've just found this and am so terribly dissapointed to find that I just missed the meeting! is there a regular schedule of meetings? Please let me know.. thanks!

Hi Cara,

I just read post about your Serama Roo, sorry, to hear of his passing.
Every morning I dread going out to check out my feathered friends because
I know the possiblities of losing one are always there.

I am dealing with takiong care of the first hen I ever got from Laurel.
It seems Peaberry, (I name my chickens after coffee beans, go figure...) had
injured her leg when she jumped down from roost in coop. I knew a lower perch
had broken and I didn't get my butt out their to repair it, so I am kicking my self.

Last night I put an upside down diary crate in coop so they can get a bit closer
to their sleeping perch.

Hopefully Peaberry will heal herself. (she sure is getting spoiled, since I brought
her inside heated workshop with the Serama Mamas). She is eating & pooping good,
so I remain hopeful.

Sorry again for your loss,

Glenn

For Lynne,

Thanks for the tip on the Night Light Guards, I was a bit skeptical, I do have one motion detector light but I need to get a few more.

Cari - I meant to mention to keep your eye out for wood shipping crates, they are really easy to convert and are often free. I got four 6'x8'x8' for free off CL.
3 were converted to storage sheds, and one into my pheasant cage.
