San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Cari, I think you missed my last post. You added the Scratch feed but did not add to the Layer Crumbles. Please go ahead and add 2 more Layer Crumbles for me.

I will wait and see if anyone else wants to add, if not, I can probably do some of the grains.

Thanks,

Nancy

Cari - do we save significantly on the shipping if we hit the 100 bag order? If so, I'll add something to help us get closer.

We don't necessarily save a bundle, it's just that the more bags we have and the more people we have the cheaper it will be for each individual person.

Also, any thing we need to make up to 100, I will just buy and then if anyone wants to buy some from me they can.

Hi Everyone, Been dealing w/ some health issues and not on too much. That and just trying to keep up w/ all of the chicks.

I am in need of some advice. This has gotten me down to because it is my fault. Two nights ago, one of my dogs needed to go out and potty at 3 in the morning. While I was taking him, I saw the female dog sleeping on the futon and she rarely will leave in the early morning. My teenage chickens that I hatched in January have been moved to the patio and they have been sleeping on the wrong side of the partition. So I took Timmy out and did not close the door, Luna comes out and I hear the other chickens sound upset. I hurry up and lock Timmy out and go and grab Luna. We are talking split seconds. I come back and the Delaware is on the floor not looking good. No blood or any punture wounds. I checked. She would not stand so I thought she was just in shock. I held her through the night. In the morning I thought she would be better. She just sits in place and one of her legs does not seem to work for her. She does not appear to be in any pain. She eats and drinks. Since she is not in pain, I do not think I should put her to sleep but not sure about her quality of life sitting in place. Ugh.............. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Nancy

I would see if you can feel the leg to feel if anything is broken. If there is an obvious break I would probably put her to sleep to save myself all the hard work of having a handicapped animal.

OTHER than that I would NOT put her to sleep.... I would put her in a doggie/ kitty crate in the house with food water electrolytes vitamins and heat, at LEAST for a few days and see if she gets better. If she made it through the night you have a good chance she will make it especially if there are no broken bones. SO sorry you had this happen!!!!
