San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

I'm not surprised... everything is going up! I will change my order, though - I'm excited that they now have soy-free chick starter crumbles! Can you switch out my regular bag of starter crumbles to the soy-free kind? Thank you!

Ahhh... Thank you very much for that suggestion! This is why I love my San Diego Chicken people!

Dana, I owe you some chicks.
I have austrolorp pullets, and will have blue Egger Ameraucanas hatching on the 15 hopefully, and 20th. You can have whatever you like

Dana,

You "might" like to select a different source for your chicks.

Dana,
I LOVE my Australorps.... if you don't have any yet.... get some! Great birds!

On another note.... I'll be bringing some chicks to Norco, but I could also bring them to Lake Murray if anyone is interested.... I have 4 Buff Orps, 4 Barred Rocks, all from hatchery "pullet" picks. They are about 3-4 weeks old right now, and doing great. The buffies are especially friendly, as my kids have played with them a lot. The Barred Rocks are typical "pants on fire" chicks, running around the brooder, they are getting quite large!

PM me if you are interested, otherwise I won't bring them.

Phage - I would LOVE some blue eggers! The ones hatching on the 20th would probably be perfect timing... I have a few more possible doubles for you, too.

Here's another newbie question: Broody Missy is sitting on four eggs. In a perfect world, all of them hatch. How many more chicks could I give her without overwhelming her mothering abilities? (She's a White Rock.) What's a normal, easy for momma hatch number?

I will probably get an Australorp (or two) once my friend Karen takes her chickens back. Right now there is just too much adult poop going on here!!!

I have bantam NN and bantam BBS Ameraucanas in lockdown due tomorrow. The smallest NN egg is zipped and peeping. That one is in a hurry rayyy !

No problem.
I think a good hen can cope with about 10 chicks.

I will bring them on he 23rd then.
How many would you like? They won't be sexed of course.
