Crazy Huhn, I may be just as picky and I can assure you that the quality and freshness was top notch. I smell the feed and have been known to return things if it does not "smell" right.

If you are concerned then just buy enough to feed for the month or so. I of course did not buy enough and was scraping the bottom. I am trying to not buy too much because storage is a problem.

They are in coop that birds cannot get into. So if there is a egg eater, it is one of my ladies. I found out that one of them is laying a soft shelled egg and probably when the next hen goes in to lay, her claws is busting it up and someone of course is consuming it.

We need more mealworms but not sure that I will come down on the 23rd. I need to do some things in SD on a weekday and with the cost of gas lately, I cannot afford to make 2 trips. Are you going to Norco?

Which reminds me. At the last meet-up Miss Crazy Huhn requested Aloe Vera but had not asked for it in advance and since it is such a common plant I neglected to bring any. So if some one wants to carry it back down to SD I have bunches of Aloe Vera. So I could bring it to Norco if anyone wants the stuff. It multiplies ya know. I will not be in SD on the 23rd.

Is the meeting going to be on the 23rd at Lake Murray again? I may want to buy some duck eggs, too, for baking/eating. How much do they cost? I am not 100% sure that I'm going to be there because I have been getting some work hours at my old job and am on call. So, I don't want anyone to go to any extra trouble bringing duck eggs for me. But, if you have a few extra, I might want to buy them.

I may bring brownies, but not sure..

Tom the muscovy duck at Lake Murray has been missing for a week. It's possible that he just gave up waiting for people to feed him and stopped hanging around the parking lot. I've looked everywhere, but can't find him.

In the meantime, I've found some killdeer eggs at the lake.

But, they're in a bad, bad, bad spot and probably won't last long.

Funny thing is that the grandparents of the eggs are helping to protect them. Very unusual.

Nancy: I do not think that I will make it to the Norco meeting, but just give me a call or email me a few days before you come down to SD and I will have some wormies ready for you.

Flower: You are the Best!!! Thank You so much for remembering that I was looking for some Aloe Vera. I would still love to have some. BTW: The Lily you gave me at the last meeting seems to do very well. It is in a pot and gets the world's best fertilizer: mealworm castings.
