She takes it pretty well, but she's vocal. Have you thought about going down to one roo and seeing if that improves things? Or is it easier to jettison both at the same time? (I fully understand.) I had hoped to only have one roo, but ended up with two... as long as things remain peaceful, I'm okay with it.

To be honest, I'm really undecided. 4 girls still seem like too few for a hormonal cockerel. I've thought about possibly keeping the non-alpha just to see what happens. I'm not sure what kind of leader he'll make though considering how flighty he is.

I'm so upset by the situation. I really need to thicken my skin.

As far as I know there aren't ANY organic turkey/ gamebird feeds available on the market right now. I spoke with my Modesto Rep and they said they don't plan on making their own formula because there isn't enough demand...

HOWEVER, you can buy Modesto's Organic Chick Starter, and mix it 70/30 with their Organic Soybean meal and you will get a mixture that comes out to 29% protein.

That's what they recommended and that's what I did when the Turks were little, when they were bigger I just fed them the Chick Starter, as it's 22% anyway.

Hope that helps!

4 might be ok if you get them hen saddles and have is a nice roo.

And I have heard many a story about people keeping the submissive roo and getting rid of the alpha, only to have the sub become the alpha!

If you are going to keep one I would pick whichever one is the nicest to you and the hens.

I love roosters, but I get to feeling like you. My solution was to get a bantam rooster for the ladies. Not as hard on them, but you still get eye candy and protection for the hens.

The thing is, the boys are very similar except one is alpha. They're both broody-raised (by the hen that they're now hot for!) so they're people shy. Can't catch them if our lives depended on it. And they're not horrible to the girls, just horny for one. Neither does the treat call yet. I just saw alpha doing the dance for Bridget. Is that a good sign, like there is a gentleman inside?

Yes treat calls and dancing are good! They are trying to win over the hearts of the girls! Sometimes they will do that too to "warn" the girls.... "here I come!"...

And I would say that yes they are ganging up on the one because she is the only one of laying age, so you have 2 boys and 1 girl... as the others don't count yet, that's probably why they are being little butts...

My suggestions;

1. Get more girls of laying age right away.

2. Get rid of one rooster, which ever one is meaner. Then you can see the flock dynamics with just 1 rooster.

And if you still aren't happy then you could get rid of the last rooster.

Hope this helps!

Hi Al! Sorry, I wish I had some ducks. We saw some beauties at the poultry show. Here is a link for a beautiful one we saw in bantam size. I didn't know there were bantam ducks!! I learn something new every day on these forums. http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/Ducks/BkEast/BRKEastIndies.html I'll ask around for you. Good to hear from you
