San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Hey everyone - I am considering rehoming a Swedish Flower hen Roo I have.... He is just too rough with my bantam hens and pullets. Ohtherwise he is a sweetheart, really friendly. I could only give him to a good home, so I am not putting him on craigslist. If any of you want a gorgeous crested Swedish Flower hen roo and don't keep bantams pm me..... (Allison this is the one u gave me, if you want to take him back, you have first grab at him).

OMG i hope I can have more than 25! I currently have 23 but I am suppose to incubate a lot more. I will probably end up with 33 after I get rid of the roosters and I sell some of them. If I get a business license for selling eggs, chicks, and fresh products will that allow more chickens? I know where I live is consider agricultural area, but I still don't know about the maximum number allowed.
Thank you

I'm pretty sure you're legally allowed 25: http://www.nctimes.com/news/local/sdcounty/article_5a0d08b9-a0b6-5120-97d3-770d5674d581.html

thank you guys for all your answers. When I look at the map I see that i am RR which really surprise me (i thought i was A70) because it's totally agricultural. I live in a horse ranch, across us we have a neighbor with turkeys, horses, lama, chickens, etc... Another one has tons of chickens (im sure he has more than 25). Anyways, i was wondering if i get a business license, can I have more than 25? I will hatch chicks so the 25 max will exceed for sure (i currently have 23). I think I will end up with 35 total, but more for sell. How do u guys do?

Personally I feel as long as you dont get someone mad enough to report you you are good to go. The business license is a tricky issue and you bring in health regulators and permitts and inspectors and stuff like that. That is if you are going for NPIP certification along with your business licence which probably will need to go hand in hand.... Look at it really closely first before stirring things up for yourself.

True. I currently have a young rooster, which I'm technically not supposed to have. He sleeps in the garage and he's not an all day crower, but if any of my neighbors ever got upset he'd have to go.

I have 6 SFH cockerels to re-home right now. I have a call in to a lady that said she wanted one of them. I'll ask her if she wants a guaranteed sweet adult over an unknown younger one. Do you have a recent of him?

I wouldn't worry about it unless it becomes a problem. A license is going to cost a lot...not worth it in my opinion.
