San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

I'm new to the site, and new to chickens. I live in Rancho Penasquitos and just got my first 4 chicks. I'm curious about how the recent ordinance has affected the number of San Diegans starting to keep chickens. Does anyone know? Also, where are your favorite local resources/feed stores? There don't seem to be many/any in town.

Elston's hay and grain in Poway does stock both regular and organic chicken food as well as feeders and waterers. They are on Garden road. There is also a north county feed co-op that orders organic food bulk. DFDesigns (Dana) coordinates it.

Welcome to BYC and the San Diego Chat group!

Aumlet: Is the injured hen Falina? I hope she pulls though!

Yes it's Falina. She seems perkier today. She's still not moving much, but she seemed more with it and curious today. I'm glad I took her in. The vet gave us an oral antibiotic, but I'm not sure I'm going to give her any as long as she seems to be making progress.

I love those hidden nests! Congratulations!

Let's keep the happiness rolling, shall we? I FINALLY got an egg from one of my Peachick Wheaten Ameraucanas, and it was well worth the wait. The color is so pretty!
