San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Hope everyone got home safe and sound.

I had a fun time meeting all of you and sure hope for more future meetings. Who would have ever thought that the love of chickens brings all these amazing people together? Having seen some of your chickens today just wants me to have more.....

Everyone was so nice and generous. My dog went crazy for his dog treats. The coffee smells so good that I can even smell it with my cold...., the goat milk lotion A+ ( I want my Mom to try it, because she is allergic against all the store bought stuff), my hubby already made a nice Cilantro dressing, the Aloe will be planted tomorrow (not sure if it is Aloe Vera, is it?), the bookmark and last but not least a chicken friend who did not make it to the meeting today was so jealous about my cute little chicken bell charm. Thank You all!!!

Thanks all for coming! I had such a great time meeting everyone. Everyone was so generous and really helped make this thing become something greater than I ever expected. I especially want to thank Naomi for putting so much extra effort into this, you are awesome Naomi!!! Next time I will call ahead to set up and organize so we don't have any trouble with park rangers etc. I had no idea so many people and birds would be there and I think we may have got lucky.

Duck Duck had a great day too and was completely worn out by the time we got home. He can't help but behave now! Thanks all for understanding his bit of personality disorder!!

There are so many people I wanted to thank for all the great stuff they so generously gave, coffee, eggs, worms, plants, fruit, calendars, the food and everything I'm forgetting.... it was amazing and I thank you!!

I look forward to seeing you all again at the next one! Are we ready to plan another date???!!!!

Dee,

My husband didn't skip a beat! He asked if I brought any chickens home, I said "Two", he said "Cool, what kind?" . . . whew!

So glad to hear that your chickens loved the mealworms. I am the Queen of the chicken run if I feed mine some.....

I do have several breeding bins going , so I always have a good supply. Let me know......

What a great turn out! Looked to be around 45 people. Really wonderful meeting so many chicken loving souls

I came home with my car totally loaded with goodies!! It was incredible how well everything came together.
The food was awesome, people so much fun to be around, and the chickens amazing. It's the first time I've ever seen a Serama or a Silkie in person. Beautiful!! I walked away with a breeding pair of bantam NN Turkens and two d'Uccles (A special thank you to Lynne. You get the first NN d'Uccle).

I thought it was great how people that weren't part of the meet up enjoyed talking about the chickens too! I talked to the ranger afterwards and he said he thought it was great. He couldn't wait to tell the boss tomorrow about us! I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Well may I be the first to reply with "regrets that I did was not there today" my cousin was not home due to ski season and my co-mother-in-law (would you believe that I am friends with my daughter-in-laws mother) could not come. So I missed meeting everyone and getting new stuff and getting rid of my iris and Aloe Sporangia plants. Oh weel next meet-up I had best make better plans. Five hundred mile round tip is TOO MUCH but I am happy that everyone had fun !

It was a very nice turn out today, next time we will need a bigger park with a bigger parking lot, maybe a little further South.

Got to see the NN Turkens for the first time in person today, they look very interesting, they have less feathers than I see on pictures. Looking forward to seeing more interesting birds next time.

And thanks for the coffee, fruits, mealworms, etc.. everyone.

I cannot begin to tell you how much I enjoyed yesterday.

I'm a relative hermit here in the back country but I do clean up pretty well for a public outting. My only regret is that I didn't get to circulate more to meet & greet. My daughter in law, Cheryl, had the time of her life & it is now cemented in her brain that "everyone" needs a chicken~!

Many thanks to:

Naomi (Sweet Violet) -Your signs, banners & cards were awesome. Thank you for being the first to greet us & making us feel welcome. I do hope you enjoy the Buff Cochin pullet. I'm sorry, in the confusion of getting packed to go home, that I didn't get to tell you goodbye.

Allison (KKHen) - You are soooo silly

I am so very pleased that you got your NN babies. I hope the Mille Fleur & Black Mottled girls work out for you. Keep me posted on their progress.

Michelle (Enzolove)- Can't wait to see pics of #55 Mille Fleur Cochin pullet when she matures. The blue/silver undercoat that she has will be stunning. Also the little white Cochin pullet will be so striking with her black penciling. I think you made some great choices & I know you will reap the rewards of having two very sweet girls. Thank you again.

Gloria -You really scored with the pair of Black Mottled D'Uccles. They will be beautiful, stately birds that will bring wonderful comments from anyone that sees them. Thank you for giving them a great home.

Pamela-# 61 Mille Fleur Cochin pullet will quickly become your favorite girl. She will worm her way into your heart & become your lap baby~!

I know you will enjoy her. Let me know how things go with her.

Laurel-- It warms my heart to know how happy you were to get my sweet little Mille Fleur Cochin cockerel, even with his disability. He is awesome in pattern & color & should give you some terrific babies. The little MF Cochin pullet (#71) that you purchased will be a great foundation hen if you proceed with this color project. Please don't hesitate to email me ( [email protected] ) with any questions or concerns you might have with this color or breed. It makes me feel good to know that they are getting a loving home.

Last but not least, thank you to everyone who came by & chatted, brought wonderful food, arranged a terrific gathering place & brought super giveaways (even though my poor chickens had "never"

seen a mealworm). A big thank you for the warmth of greetings for my first local meet-up. So looking forward to the next one.
