San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

I forgot to mention, I had a little green egg in the box when I got home with my NNTurken hen!! (Kev wasn't sure if she was laying or not since he had her in a pen with others).

AAHhhhhhh, it's the simple things!!

Ahhhhh, Crazy Huhn is feeling the love!!
What's more cuddlier than a couple of Naked Necks?

Today was the first day I heard one my chickens make a real chicken noise, you know - bok bok bah-gawk! And it was my newest one, Marsha the marshmallow, a bantam cochin from Wingshadows.

Also, I wanted to mention that I made coffee this morning with the roasted beans from Glenn, my daughter walked downstairs and said "Wow, the coffee smells great this morning!" - - - compliments to the chef - - -

WOW great party. Love the mealworms, My serams are mugging me when i open their pens thinking i have more meal worms. I now have to get a sign ATTACK SERAMA!!! I guess I am going to continue to get a constant supply for mealworms now..... I promiced some 4H mom a link for serama http://www.jerrysseramasllc.com/jerrysseramasllc/juniors.html I am going to be having some good quality seramas become available on and off, so if someone is wanting an appartment chicken, feel free to call me!!! I am going for quality and not quantity. I have had lights on my pens for a week now and starting to get consistant eggs!!! I am also glad that my Friend GLORIA "rabbit lady" came out. Shse just rescued 30 rabbits for a horder lady here in town, and has already spent over 5g in vet bills trying to save some of the criticle ones, she has lots of wonderful bunnies that are going to be needing quality homes. I am sorry that i had to go early, lots to do that afternoon. Will catch up with everyone laiter. OHHHH the coffee was FANTASTIC!!! glad you all liked the seramas, and some even got the hear my little SDW crow, kinda funny sounding!!!

The little NN sure were cute. Congratulations on your new additions Knock Kneed Hen.

I promise that for the next meet-up I will knit some scarves for all NN chickens participating ......( and Kev is getting a heart attack if I do that to all the little precious ones) and of course meal worms for all of them, because they were so patient while I tried to dress them up.
Oh well, now I guess everyone knows were the name "Crazy Huhn" comes from........

Meeting up with you all was awesome!. My new little Cochin from Lynn is settling in, and she doesn't seem to be too lonely. But I'm going to have to get her a companion because when I took her out and was petting her, she really wanted to join the big girls! Thanks all for your lovely food, treats, and conversation.

It was really great to finally meet some other San Diego/So Cal chicken people. I am so sorry I had to leave early and missed the mealworms and coffee! I am still chuckling everytime I picture that tiny Serama rooster - so proud and cocky and SO SMALL! Thank you all for sharing your chickens, bunnies, ducks, food and chicken stories. It was great to meet people with common interests who can relate to my love for chickens....I had to sprint out when I saw the big box of chicks some to the party. I knew there was no way I could resist taking home new babies and I promised my husband I would only look and admire the gorgeous birds at the Meet Up! Of course, I haven't told him I am saving myself for the upcoming "Chicken Days" at Hawthorns Feed Store in Escondido, sometime in Feb. I really need to add another condo coop onto the homestead.......Thank you all for being so willing to share. I know of no other hobby that has knowledgeable folks out there day and night, ready to provide advice and help whenever us newbies need it. Can't wait for the next meet up
