The main entrance area off of Kiowa would have the best tables and shading, but it gets busy on Sunday and it's first come, first served with regards to tables.. But, I had a meetup there for another group on a Sunday and we just brought our own chairs and sat under a tree with no problem at all. And, I've seen other large groups in that same area, too, on Sunday. I don't think there's any rule about setting up your own tables, but you might want to check into that.
I like the Alvarado Bay area near the main parking lot. That's actually where you can see the most ducks and geese there, too, plus there's parking nearby.
We have a permit so we can set up folding tables and chairs all we want, but I don't want to make it necessary for anyone to lug them there. I heard that area had only 4 tables I think.
I guess I will just go scope it out. Any other groups kinda have to make way for us though we can't "technically" reserve tables, we can shoo people away waving our permit lol.
No other groups or parties are scheduled with the park for that day and they won't schedule anything because we are set.
I will get there early and brand the tables in our name anyway.
