San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Sounds like I missed out on a good time. That picture of Leia all decked out is precious!! She is gorgeous, then put her in a pretty dress....well

Of course, my mom wants a duck just like Leia

I saw THAT coming!!

Maybe we could do the next meet up on a Sat so that those who work on Sun can make it. If we did it during Spring Break then Cari could make it too.

KKH, we missed you too. Turns out every one wants a duck just like Leah (sp?).

Tigerrrrlily, if you could breed her (and somehow guarantee they'd all be like her) you could make lots of bucks. What a good natured and gorgeous girl she is.

I will send you the photo file on PM - I also took a cute photo of your daughter holding her while she was getting dressed. Will send, too.

Thanks again for the sweet silkie babies. There's gonna be a housing expansion needed over here......

No problem using the photo of Leah - Can you pull off the post or is it better to send over email? I have other photos from the meetup that came out great too, if you're interested, including the gorgeous show girl (boy!).

Hi guys, was that a perfect day or what! What a great way to end a rainey week. I had a great time seeing everyone again, and meeting some new members too. Here's the web address for the best price I've seen so far on the chicken nipples www.qcsupply.com. There are lots of suppliers for these, and maybe you will find a better deal. I used the supplier on this byc site, avian aqua miser, and I'm satisfied with the quality. Anyway, you'll love using a system if you decide to go ahead and build one for your birds.Let me know if you have questions. Also, thanks to DesertDarlene for the great write up in the Examiner. Well done! Have fun and see you again soon, LaVonne PS Next time I'll have the baggies of wheat.

I put this on the Egg Laying board, but wanted to see if anyone here had any thoughts:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have some new layers, and I'm having trouble figuring out exactly who is gracing the nest box... specifically I'd like to know who's laying that lovely dark egg! I haven't caught any of the new layers doing their thing, so I'm pretty stumped.

From L-R: Easter Egger, Salmon Faverolle, Barred Rock and then the mystery egg.

Breeds to choose from: Partridge Cochin, White Rock, Barred Rock, Speckled Sussex or Columbian Wyandotte. (There's also two Polish and a Sultan, but I know those eggs will be white.)

... I just got notified by KW Cages that My Genesis 1588 with egg turner is IN
wee.gif
soon as I will pick it up either tomorrow or the day after. For those who dont know KW Cages is right here in Santee and they carry many many supplies common to raising fowl. I used to buy Aviary supplies from them when I raised finches. http://clover.forest.net/kwcages/index.html They have Rabbit supplies too. They also carry quite a selection of remedies vitimines grit oystershell treats..... you name it. I am thinking rather than building my pop doors for my new coops I will buy their small access doors instead. VERY secure Secure enough to keep a Macaw from getting them open and padlockable. So now this newbie is going to be overflowing with questions.... off to the hatching eggs fourm....

I don't know who laid that brown egg, I don't think any all the breeds that you have should have that color, maybe one of them is not a pure breed?

Thanks again fo the 2 plants.

The lake seems to be a good area to meet, it just got too cold for us and we were sick to begin with.

Maybe if we meet there next time we can go fishing too.
