San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

I checked on her and she wants to eat and drink. She looks fine other than that she cannot walk. I gave her a once over to look for blood or some evidence of why she is like this. It does not appear broken. Maybe pulled?????? I am not really sure what Luna did to her.

I think I will let her be and see if it gets better. If not, then I will do what I have to do. I do remember when it just happened that her feet felt cold but I thought she was just in shock and I wrapped her in a towel and held her all night. She just laid in my arms all night. Her feet feel warmer now but she curls one foot when I try to make her stand.

She has been by herself. I will try to get some heat on her.

HELP! My husband of 31 years just walked out of our marriage. I found out he had gotten fired too.
Please, if you can take some of my LF Cochins please contact me. I don't know where I'll be living in a month or two.

I know how difficult it is but let the dust settle a bit before you make drastic decisions. I speak from experience. Maybe you can have them housed in a temp. situation and then get them back when you are more settled.

Naomi - if (or when) you have to rehome your cochins, speak with the Country Feed Store in Vista - they are very helpful with these type of circumstances. I am sorry to hear of your situation. I don't live far from you, so please PM me if you need help.

luvanimals: I would put the pullet in a dog crate, make her comfortable. It sounds like a good sign that she wants to eat and drink. Vitamins and electrolytes are always a good idea like someone has already mentioned here. I personally also love the Polyvisol without iron (WalMArt or Toys'r Us carries it). Of course vitamins and electrolytes will not help if there is a nerve damage, but for now I would not put her down.
All my best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Sweet Violett: I am so sorry you are having a rough time right now and sure pray for you that you can work it out for your best.

Cari: I just got home from work..... Guess your coops are up by now. (BTW: I would have helped you if I would have been off, however I do like Chef Glenn's coffee so much better than Starbucks.......
