It was well populated with people and birds. Some newer enthusiasts came and got inducted into the addiction. Too bad I took the highway through LA and got there later that I wanted. Came home with eggs for my incubator and a two new chicks.

Noisy Chickens brought some sweet bantam white crested crele polish chicks, Darling little babies who might just be future roosters. Too many roos, but she also brought hatching eggs from her bantam buff polish and wheaten ameraucans for me by request.

There are lots of posts with pictures on the meet-up thread.

I hope all is well with everyone. Have not been on as much. Lots going on but just a few updates.

It was good to see some familiar faces in Norco. Too bad that it was so WINDY.

All this talk about broodies and guess what I have on my hands? Ugh......... I thought at first she was just laying an egg and I checked last night and she is sitting on NOTHING. I will decide what to do w/ her. I have some fertile eggs I was going to place in the incubator but I may just hand them to her. She is a 6 month old Buff Rock. I hope it is not contagious.

I do not need her sisters being broody too.

I thought I was rooster free for awhile but I was awoken by crowing. My Black Split to Lavender AM is obviously a male. They are so hard to sex that you do not know what you have until you hear a crow or there is a egg. I have to admit I did see the reddening of the comb but I just did not want to believe.

If anyone is interested in him, please let me know. I will most likely be in San Diego this week. Chula Vista and Santee. He is by far the nicest rooster I have raised to date. Just a really laid back guy and that is why I would rather he go to a home instead of the alternative. I believe he is of Blehm/Smith birds.

I cannot believe that I do not have a incubator running. This is a first. Taking a little break before some more quail eggs are due to arrive. Then god help me, I am thinking about setting duck eggs. Where I will put them is yet to be determined.

The meet up in NOrco was lots of fun!! The wind was not so great but the people were fantastic!! Chaili, I am going to get as much information as i can about what you are going to need to do for the Jr portion of the SCNA serama show coming up JUNE 4 at collier park!! I think the main point is handling your birds, no problem there. Then i think you have to get your girls to get the birds to pose, just tickle the wattles on them sill they stand in the correct pose position. get them used to standing on different surfaces and posing as well. as you know some chickens slump when they feel something different under their feet. KINDA LIKE ME WITH ICE SkATES!! I will be pretty low to the ground!! Fo those who are interested we will have a chicken sale area and lots of fun stuff going on, This is a serama only show, but other birds for sale will be welcome. I think We may need help with a BBQ ORRRRR I can have a friend come in a do his BBQ tritip, homem made beans, and salad for $10 a head!! I personally would like a few of our locals here just to keep an eye out for people opening cages that may not have business opening cages if you catch my drift!! I am also going to try to get something together to get some great donations for a raffle from feed stores, locals, ETC. All american do you think you can get some home made soap, Glen, how about some a bag of Coffee for the raffle for the serama people coming from WASHINGTON!! I remember getting a cool chicken book mark from someone. I would kinda like to SHOWCASE out SAN DIEGO CHICKEN people, they say they are generous in the south, lets give them a little West coast hospitality!! If anyone is able to donate some craft or something to the raffle pm me!! i will be storing them and getting them ready. I will also need tablecloths, and buckets for raffle tickets. I am also going to have to make a cute area to take pictures of the Champions of show etc, does someone want to help come up with a theme, Should we do beach sand and shells!! OK well i am excited and really do not have a clue where to start, we (I) have one month!! OT get this party going

Ditto, Lottsa fun. Joey was indeed inspiring. Hope to see more of him. Many nice people and birds.
Of course I will donate some of my fresh roasted coffee beans, maybe we can put a few bags in
a feeder or waterer, I know there are proably some chicken potterey pieces out there somone would like
to retire.
Gosh, that meet up was a wonderful day had by all.
Really looking forward to the next one.

Hi all! I saw this and thought someone might get good use out of it. These make awesome chicken runs, all you have to do is screen in the frame with chicken wire or birdnet and wala! Better yet it's free. I wish I had the room...

Also for coops, cages and hutches these are really easy to convert and also are free...

If anyone checks these out please let me know, I'm curious if there are any small and secure enough to make quail hutches but I am all the way in East County. I trust you guys to tell me honestly more than I do a stranger on CL and don't want to make a drive for nothing!!!
