Best "looken"? Why do people keep fixating on her looks? Not just you, but many, many others have remarked that she's attractive. What does it matter? Nobody comments on the looks of the male candidates. If she were a dog would you vote otherwise?

If people vote because of looks, we're headed toward a fine future. Maybe Paris Hilton should be appointed to the Supreme Court to make it "hot".

People do vote based on looks. Nixon-Kennedy was partly on looks.

My mother-in-law said she would not vote for Reagan because he died his hair.

* o.k. - edited myself for being a little too harsh with the "6O minutes" remark. Made it a little more in the repeat.

* Sad to say, but too true. We have voted for looks, AND ear tickling far and away too often since the advent of the television. Wondered when someone would get around to pointing out that Sarah isn't the first woman to run for VP, too!! We also have very short-term memories, thanks to TV. Almost, but not quite a week give or take, I think.

You know, what I find most amusing in this campaign ( and I am a political junkie) is the:
1. Allegations by the right that Obama is a "celebrity" . Of course that is a mark of a person who is NOT fit for office.

2. The selection of Sarah, who with her good looks, brains, wit and bite is formed perfectly for celebrity, and was chosen at least in some percentage for that fact.

3. The glossed over fact that the adored Reagan was in fact a REAL celebrity when he was elected to Executive office

Oh, I just love love love politics!!!! Of course, I have a unique perspective as the DD of a staunch Democrat mother and a NRA Republican father. They have been married for over 40 years, and are celebrating their 42nd in 2009!

First: I Ditto Rufus!

Second: I am proud that we live in a country that allows us all to have this civil, and some times not so civil, discourse regarding those who lead our country and those who wish to lead our country. Unlike China, who censors free speech and the internet, we need not fear that our opinions will send us to the gulags or to re-education camps. As long as we are allowed to freely express our opinions (short of violence and anarchy) without fear of governmental retaliation we are truely free. We may not agree on our favorite candidate or what are the best policies for this country but we each need to respect the rights of those others who have their own diverse opinions. Many times discussion and debate lead to better solutions that would not have been possible if one side or the other was silenced.

I pray each day that debate is never silenced in the United States of America, because debate is what will eventually lead us to the best combination of solutions to fix our problems.

I have commented on the male candidates looks in another thread

In this instance, it was a matter of me trying to find something nice to say about her so that my post wasn't completely harsh sounding. When talking politics, it often soothes tempers to find something nice to say about a candidate you don't particularly like . . . . sometimes the list of possible compliments is a bit limited
