Ditto. I'm scared to venture an opinion any more because I have folks coming at me trying to win me over to 'their' side. I'd rather be in a room full of skeeters than a room full of political fanatics...

She certainly looks good on television, and can say all the right things . . . but I can't wrap my head around how she thinks. If they get elected and she was somehow forced to assume the presidency, I'd have to curl up in bed and cry

See for me, she doesn't say all the right things. Too make make-or-break issues where she and I break. She could have all the integrity in the world, wouldn't make me want to vote for her or McCain.

I meant to say she says all the right things for her party. Nothing she says works for me, but it certainly does for my republican friends and family. Her views give me the willies, to be perfectly honest. She looks fantastic for having so many kids, doesn't she though? I was talking with my uncle, and we agreed she looked like one of those pretty girls on those stupid teen movies. You know, the ones who are supposed to look dorky until they take off the glasses and let down the hair, but in truth they are just as pretty in glasses with the hair up.

Doesn't any of the other women feel at least a tiny bit pandered to by McCain, with this whole Sarah Palin thing? I mean, obviously he was in need of women's votes, and making his party look diverse in some way. I just don't understand how he could think that she's ready for the presidency, and I'm kind of insulted to think that he thinks women are so naive that they'd fall for it, just because she's a woman. In general, the guy seems to have some real issues with women, with the trophy wife, the token female VP candidate, and the disabled ex-wife. If he really wanted to diversify and have a woman on his ticket, why not choose an accomplished, ready to run the country republican woman, such as Kay Bailey Hutchinson or Elizabeth Dole?
I'm going to shut up now because I hate to stir up controversy and I love our BYC community and I don't want to dirty things up, but I just had to get that out of my system!

I get what you are saying. I feel the same way as you about curling up in my bed and crying, but then, I've been feeling that way for the past 8 years.

This is purely opinon, but I think he chose her because he knew people would see her as "a breath of fresh air" because she doesn't have any experience and therefore doesn't have any real skeletons that can be brought up. He can point to the things she did to try and oust some corruption in AK and say "See, she is just what we need!". McCain knows that they probably can't win this election on the issues, so he is trying to win it with his idea of "change".

it's funny to see how everybody talks about experience but just look at the candidate for president on the Democrat side what experience does he bring?

AND... that is your opinion which you are entitled to, however people can talk all the trash they want about her and it will never change my opinion. I think she did a fine job delivering her speech! It was refreshing to hear someone and see someone on the political scene that might make a difference. FINALLY! Go Palin!

By the way Mahonri, I love the changed lyrics! That was perfect!
