Sav a Chick dosage question

Okay, I'm getting my chicks tomorrow (Yay!) and I'm setting up my brooder tonight. But when I was looking at my Sav A chick packets, it says to use 1 packet per gallon of water. I have a 32-ounce waterer. Can I make the formula in a gallon of water and just re-use it? Also, it says to let the chicks have regular water and the formulated water. Is this necessary? I only have 1 waterer.

Well it lasts a couple of weeks, maybe more. After that though I wouldn't think it was fresh. But its a matter of opinion on giving it to them after that.

how long do you think it would last unrefridgerated? I was so sure my chicks would be in today (ordered from a feed store which did say April 8/9 but seemed the other orders came in on Thurs so figured mine would). turned my heating pad on this am and got it all toasty warm for them. filled the plain waterer. and mixed up a bit of sav-a-chick water (like 1/2 qt just as a small boost) around 12-1pm thinking they come in around 3ish....... Well they didn't come in. :( They SHOULD be in tomorrow. Should I put the other in the fridge (been out for about 10 hrs or so) or just leave it? or dump it and make it fresh AFTER they come tomorrow?

WOOHOO on your chicks tomorrow!!!!!!!!!! I am HOPING mine get to the feed store tomorrow. My brooder has been set up for almost a week I am so excited I couldn't wait. haahaa.
