packed
full of scholarly works.

Ps, didn't read up the links on your later post because wikipedia and scientific american aren't reliable per se..... one is a community edited pedia, and the other is basically a magazine regurgitating someone else's findings.

Yeah, that indiscriminate breeding will get you every time.

It's very interesting what you say about population control. It's right out of, "Brave New World." Like I said, those guys were right.... Did you ever see the movie, "Logans Run?"

PS I'm always reminded of this comment whenever this comes up:

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end - for they do so with the sole approval of their own conscience. - - C. S. Lewis

You have to think that the Earth has been around for Billions of years!
100% of the reptilian dinosaurs are extinct...but that is just a drop in the pot for them. Just the Triassic period was 220 million years ago, and the last of them were gone about 65 million years ago..thats a flora and fauna to die out.

...........
David Raup contributed to the knowledge of extinction events along with his colleague Jack Sepkoski. They suggested that the extinction of dinosaurs 65 mya was part of a cycle of mass extinctions that may have occurred every 26 million years.

I wouldnt want to go as far as a Brave New World, but putting the option out there for those who dont have the means to afford it...
The same people who cant go to the doctor when they are sick without amassing huge debt..

My point exactly. It will be around for another gazillion, probably without us.
What'll the cockroaches make of our remains I wonder, in that far future?

I used to tilt pretty hard at windmills myself, so I empathize with and admire you.
I'm glad people like you are out there.

Personally, I suspect it will take more than a few politicians, global luncheons and well-intended petitions to make a drastic impact for change. If mankind is true to form, it will take one of two things:

1. Some serious, serious profit to be made. Repeat, ad nauseum.
2. Upheaval, then a dark age, then a Renaissance... repeat, ad nauseum.

One or the other. Logic itself as a force for change rarely holds sway with the mob, you know?

I posted the wikipedia info to explain what Scientific journalism is...in the even there were any lurkers that did not know what it was.
Is the information there incorrect?

Scientific America is a very prestigious magazine. Not all of their articles are peer reviewed,as in Nature (journal) but the articles are understandable for the general public, in case that anyone else is interested in trying to understand what global warming is.

Are the articles that you posted peer reviewed by a board of scientists? Just checking! Off to read!

ahhhhhhhhh me too, i am off to read

Whenever I see someone use wikipedia as a resource i immediately disregard. It is too easy to spoof this stuff. Been a LOT of it in the newspapers lately.

He was indeed brilliant.

We have already vastly overpopulated the planet, and there are not a lot of us around who even realize this. And we should not try to stop it with government intervention, as Lewis implied, even if we could. I expect we will go the way of all species who overbreed. The bell curve is headed our way.

My mother was born in 1909 and lived til she was 89. She often said she was fortunate enough to have lived in the most fascinating period of human history possible, and was glad she would not have to live through what was coming next.

It's never too late... we can always stage a turnaround.
But like any party at which you've lingered overlong, there will be some price to pay for our lack of moderation.

Many Blessings Be Upon your Dear Mother.

No bows, please.

You obviously get it, too.

Yes, my mother was a treasure, and my only best friend.
