Saw something sad :(

I don't think they inspect farms down here. There's to many of them.

I emailed my local SPCA and asked them what we can do. I'll let yall know what they say.

I suggest calling the SPCA, however, you'd be surprised how little they will be able to do about it. What we would consider inhumane conditions, etc. they may pass. They may give these guys a warning and ask to separate the animals by species but I would be surprised if you see a whole lot done. If they have shelter, fresh food and water and the roosters aren't being used for fighting, not much will be done. My other suggestion is, if this place seems be really known for " a great place to take kids", call your local media stations. I know around here they have a channel with an investigative reporter and they may be an outlet for you to try.

Good luck, I'm sorry you had to see that, and the kids!

Mabey it would be a good idea to go back with your camera in hand? Take a few photo's of the conditions. Especially the rooster with the leg mites. If he has them that bad the other chickens have to have them pretty bad too. Just aim down at the legs and close up. Take pics of anything you feel is not right and you can have those photo's as proof incase whoever you inform about the problem needs reason or just cause to inspect the conditions. That may help out in the long run. I hope eveything turn out for the better!

I'm sorry you had to see such a thing. There are all too many of these roadside "attractions" out there. They promote themselves as educational, when that is the last thing we want kids to see when they think of raising animals.
You can only do what you can do; informing your local humane society is a great step. If nothing else they can attempt to educate the owners.

Not sure I'd be that nice and polite. I'd be sticking my nose in their business. I'd make a big stink but that's just me. I can't stand to see people treat animals wrongly. It just sets me off and rubs me the wrong way. Have a little compassion and value for life....jeeesh!

It's just my southern nature to be polite I guess. If I think about it enough I'll get real mad and might actually call them.

I do hate the way those animals are being treated and I'm trying to figure out what all I can do about it. But at the same time I don't let myself get upset easily.

The only time I'm not polite is when it comes to my children or animals. I draw the line there. I'll try being nice the first time and after that...well they've been warned.

I don't have kids yet but when it comes to my animals, I barely let people touch them. If you're not going to hold them right then don't even TOUCH them!
