One of my toms has these scabs on his wattle. He is the only tom in an enclosure with four hens. All the birds appear to be acting normally and do not appear sick.

Any ideas?

That’s what I was thinking, too. I looked all around his pen to see if there was anywhere obvious where he could have stuck his head through, or if there was any dried blood. Nothing jumped out at me. I do have some free range chickens that he’s pretty aggressive toward that like to hang out around his pen, so I suppose he could have somehow injured himself on the hardware cloth trying to get at one.

Another possibility is that there is a hen in with him that is nearly as big as him, and she sometimes bullies the other hens. I would think he would fight her off if she got aggressive with him, but who knows?

I mainly posted this to see if anyone recognizes this as a potential disease symptom I’m unaware of, just to be safe.

Thanks for your reply!
