Scalped baby chick!

What breed of chicken is that in the video chasing the baby for food? She gorgeous! I want her!!
The black one, Pidgy, is one-quarter Silkie, one-quarter Booted Bantam, one-quarter Japanese, and one-quarter Easter Egger. The buff one is her daughter, via one of Pidgy's brothers so I guess she's technically the same thing.
Basically, you'd want to cross a black-tailed buff Japanese with some coordinating color of bearded silkie and cross those ones until you got the dark skin out.

Anyway, minor update, Skullkid (named after the character in Majora's Mask) is doing pretty well but I think somebody helped remove the last bit of his scab yesterday.

I put more blu-kote on it and he's still running around being cute! I'm glad he has his ear feathers.

Edit: Well, within a few minutes of my last post, one of his brothers decided he didn't like Skullkid's dye job and he attacked. I'm probably gonna have to raise him inside after all... I don't know, maybe I'll figure something else out.

Thank you! She's not a fan of humans (the result of four generations of hens raising their own chicks) but Grelka is one of my favorites.

My current solution for Skullkid is risky but I think it will work: I put him and Pidgy in the main pen with the rest of the flock. Pidgy is high up on the pecking order and can keep him safe, meanwhile Grelka will continue to tend to the other twelve chicks outside the pen. I'll see how it goes in the morning, and try one of my other options if the little guy isn't safe.
