I JUST got off the phone with "exclusive media services." While I was on the phone I googled them and found a bunch of stuff matching word for word what they were saying to me all from people who had been taken for a bunch of money by this company. DONT GIVE THEM ANY INFO IF THEY CALL YOU! I said I am not interested in the "free" quartz wath OR the $25,000 check I was entitled to for "paying my credit cards on time".... I have never had a credit card in my LIFE.

Be warned, be very warned!

Yeah well I'm lucky to never have had a credit card so no matter who they are or how "legit" they sound, the second they mention me paying off my card I go "Ha Stupid I've never had one! This Chick didnt hatch yesterday!"

http://www.ftc.gov/phonefraud :

Telemarketing fraud is a crime. Criminals use the phone to commit many different types of fraud, including sweepstakes and lottery frauds, loan fraud, buying club memberships, and credit card scams.

Telephone scammers are good at what they do. They say anything and target everyone to try to cheat people out of money. They may call you and imply that they work for a company you trust, or they may send direct mail or place ads to convince you to call them.

Who's Calling? explains several deceptive telemarketing schemes, and how you can protect yourself against them. In short, you can:

* Recognize how to identify the most common telemarketing scams.
* Report phone fraud to the FTC, providing important information to help law enforcement officials bring scammers to justice.
* Register your phone number on the National Do Not Call Registry. Registering can help limit the number of telemarketing calls you receive, so you can be more alert to calls you do get.

That is terrible, preying on people that way. Thank goodness you are smarter than most.

I dont have a land line (well I do for internet but it costs me $0.10/min for outgoing calls, so we just never plugged it up) and just a cell phone.
Ahhhh (<----- Sigh of relief) no scammers or telemarketers

I have a cell phone, which is the number they used. My phone is already on the do not call list... not sure what else to do!

REPORT them to the FTC - for every report a scam company gets, they have to pay a fine.
