Since OP has said they don't have physical evidence that there was a transaction this type of action could bring charges of slander and libel against the OP.You've mentioned twice that she's a local scout leader. Perhaps contacting the scouts and asking if it's their policy to let liars and thieves mentor young children or even a leaflet drop of the local area might be in order. Not saying you'll get the money or ducks back but at least it'll make them less "free".
LolOh sorry; I might also used the incorrect term; English is not my mother tongue. When you breed fowl over here; in a serious way, you want to put a ring on it (no not like beyonce lol). A ring on the foot which identifies the duck. It's not a MUST. You are allowed to keep unringed ducks (wild ducks MUST be ringed though if you keep them; otherwise it's illegal; domestic fowl you can leave unringed if you wish. Esceped endangered breeding fowl from zoo's you can recognize because they have a ring). But you can't enter a show without it; and I like, for myself; to keep track of every duck leaving here and collect data to be able to breed better; having an unique number on the foot which says europe, country, unique number; is easier then making a spreadsheet of "that certain blue duck" and "that certain blue duck" haha. Also; if the duck might fly away (well.. never happened with runners offcourse..) people can contact you if they find it dead/alive somewhere. If it joins wild ducks; people will spot that ring too; and call; so it will not interbreed with wild ducks. Since the ring is closed; you have to put it on before certain weeks; otherwise their feet are too big and they can't be ringed ever again!
I just can't remember the right English term for it! And now I'm only stuck with "oh, oh oh, oh, oh, oh, I you liked it you should have put a ring on it!" :')
Go to her house when the kids are in school. That's my inner feeling. Thank you for bluntly wording it like that; a thing I can not do. But this is what my feeling is. I myself, have had no cancer, but an other deadly diseace. I have unfortunatly many friends/family members that died of cancer; or at this moment; and they do not behave like this. I think my inner anger comes from what you say. It feels like she does not have cancer; and uses it; and gives a bad name to other people that have cancer. She might actually have cancer; but cancer is not picky.. it attacks good and bad people.. maybe she was a scammer before; now one with cancer. Cancer does not turn you bad; the opposite. Living so close to the end; makes people more show their true selves. Luckely most people are good. They suddenly invest more in human connections, doing right, do runs/walks to gather money for the less benefited, and some suddenly turn to God. They want to make a good impression. They want to leave with the thought everyone still living thought of them as a "good person". I don't believe in the "I have cancer so YOLO let's do everything without any concern towards any people" unless before you already were like that.
So you learned all this when you visited her house?Well that was a topic about a whole lot of nothing. She moved a month ago to who knows where. Rented the last 2 years a trailer from an old farmer and a piece of his land. Left two old shetland ponies; what the land-owner was not so charmed about. She also ows him 2 months of rent. He did not seem so fond of the family (her). But don't know how seriously I should take him. He was moping about that they were scum, children too loud, money-owners coming by, rarely had any contact with them, had two big cars, etc. But it was this type of old grumpy-Dutch old-fashioned guy.. They often can complain much if they don't understand other people.
So it's still an option that she has cancer; allthough my gut keeps thinking otherwise. You can get in big money problems over here if you get sick. But the big cars (2!) and ALL those animals..mmm.
I guess I'll never know. And get money/ducks.
