School districts, layoffs and other things of interest....

The topic is education, and the side discussion of who or what a particular person believes is so far off topic that is simply doesn't belong.

I have to go to work now....

Play nice boys, or I will as the mods to shut it down.

I know a lot of really good people that are Christians. I also know some good Jews. Lot's of Agnostics that sometimes call themselves Atheist. I used to call myself an Atheist but I can't prove there isn't a God just as nobody can prove there is.

So it really annoys me and immediately pits me into an argumentative posture when someone says "God says this or that". Who is anyone to definitively say that? If they want to say "According to the Bible" that's fine. So when I hear someone say that "God says that unconventional people are an abomination", well it really irks me. When they pass laws to legislate it, that really irks me too. I won't say anymore on that subject because I know that some people actually feel threatened by it.

I think the best statement is that science belongs in school. Religion belongs in Church. Religion is a cornerstone of human behavior. It helps out a lot of people. Man is meant to be a social creature. Herd animal if you will. That's one of the reasons for the decline of our society. Narcissism is rampant with the me first s***w everyone else mentality so prevalent now. So while a lot of people claim Christianity, they really aren't. They may be afraid of a higher power, but not that afraid. Not afraid enough to help their fellow man out. Not Christian enough to see the plight of other people.

BTW Checkenend. There are many wealthy people that got where they are through hard work. There's also a lot that inherited their wealth and it has grown through taxation breaks that benefit only the wealthy. No this is not a land of equal opportunity where everyone has an equal chance. Please don't point at our President either. He was not a poor black kid with a mother on welfare. He was a black kid that lived with his middle class white parents and was able to achieve good grades with their love and support, 3 hot meals a day and a warm place to sleep. Then he qualified for scholarships and grants. Scholarships and grants that are becoming less and less available because of cuts by a Congress that wants to give even more tax cuts to the people that have billions of dollars. Yes they earned it. On the backs of us. Without us they wouldn't have it.

Our current Congress wants to take away those chances for people like that. They want to make it so only people of means can get an education. That way only people of means are able to succeed. You may notice there aren't as many small businesses around as their used to be. There are a lot less opportunities for uneducated people than there used to be. A lot less. So whats happening is the ladder is being pulled up by the people that were able to climb to the top of it. The vacuum tube with the little money carriers still works just fine. Plenty of vacuum to pull it up there.

Just my little rant, but it's so rare that anyone ever actually talks about the elephant in the room.
