Karen, a lot depends on how the eggs have been kept prior to setting them. If they've been kept at room temperature, I think you have at most a week. Maybe two in extreme cases. If they've been kept at around 50 degrees, then it's my understanding that they can easily keep for two weeks. If they've been refrigerated, they'll keep much longer for incubation, but you need to bring them up to room temperature slowly prior to setting them in the incubator. Something about condensation on the egg shell being a condition to avoid. Heck! It's been almost two years since my last foray into incubating. I think I've forgotten nearly everything I learned back then. Ask Cyn or Kathy. Those two are the Queens of Incubation!

I've hatched plenty here that have been up to two weeks old. If I'm shipping to someone else, I'd never ship eggs of that age. I keep mine in the basement, which is more humid and always cooler, so between 48-70 degrees, depending on whether it's the dead of winter or middle of summer.

We bought the glossy black appliance paint today and looked at range hoods. The good ones were $179 and upward. For $200, I can buy an over-the-range microwave with exhaust vent so if we don't like the looks of the finished refurbished hood, we are going to go the microwave route. The one we're using is a tiny 600 watt basic thing that takes up counter space that one of my sons used in college and we could get that off of there.

Those are great! That is what I have and am so happy with it. I don't have alot of counter top space, so it really helps.

Kathy, she's such a pretty hen! Cute babies, too.

I am curious as to how the white one will look. The only eggs in this clutch she hatched were blue, green, and Marans eggs. Funny how the white one is looking Delaware-ish. Sire could be anyone, but I am thinking it might be George, my F2 Project cockerel....except, it has white legs. Very unlikely to be Oliver.
