Brandon he is a good looking boy! Brandon...I need to run down and pick up that girl from you....Thank you so much for caring for her for me. As soon as I can feel safe leaving my crew for a few hours I will make arrangements with you to come down and get her.

Well all pray for us here for sure....we will be 100 degrees by 10 am....high heat index predicted at 113. I am scared witless!
If I can keep all of birds alive I will be amazed. These extended high temps are taking their toll :(

Praying for all those that are experiencing the awful heat!

Even here in MI we are having record high temps. I have a broody again. Her baby is just 7 weeks old or so and she is determined that she wants more babies. I think I am going to put an ice bottle in the nest box with her today.

So, the guy logging our property says to Tom, "Have you seen the cougar yet?".

Apparently, there have been several sightings of a big cat on a road about 1/4 mile from my house that borders his farm. Well, of course, officially, no one will ever admit we have them here, but I've always believed we do. We sure have about everything else, including bears, and in Tn not far from me, wolves have been released.

I laughingly say to DH, who is working on the satellite dish, "Watch out for the cougar!". His retort? "I won't see any cougar unless you introduce me to her...and that would have to be some really oooold cougar." Yeah, like wheeling a walker around with her.

We officially don't have cougars here either.

It is really hot here today. I don't think I have ever experienced heat like this in MI. My pool temp is reading 91 degrees! So far all the birds seem to be ok except for one EE hen. I took large ice bottles out and placed them under the old truck where they like to hang out. I even put a small ice bottle in with the broody. I haven't let her have any eggs yet and I am not sure I am going to.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Suede gave me my first pure breed hens and roos. He can not die. He can not.!!!!! You hear me. There are few that are like the master grandfathers of our Passion. He is one for sure.
Cyn. They may not admit that we have cougors, But I saw and heard one so I know it is true for here. That was a one time thing a yr. or so ago. Shivvering......There all kinds of things in these mtns that people do not see. They may hear it and it give them cold chills with its scream but not see it. My Dad saw them as a boy growing up too.
This weather is for the pits. Hopefully the latter part of this coming wk. is suppose to be a lot cooler here. I never remember the mtns being this hot. Gloria Jean

Thanks for the good wishes for our Suedenator. Tom went to buy some groceries tonight and will be bringing home another fan for his coop. There are already two in there, but we want a wind tunnel for that boy. I wish I could hear that soulful crow again, but he isn't getting out more than the first part of it before it trails off. It's been that way for a week now, since last Friday's intense heat.

Big old Meg is having it rough, too. She is an old lady now herself, same age as Suede, and in this heat, still laying, if you can believe it.

We took them a bowl of cold plain yogurt with some cranberry-apple juice mixed in since I didn't have any electrolytes/Gatorade, but Tom has that on his list, too.
