Awwww, Amy, they look great! Sweet, sweet Maggie! You just wait.... when she is done brooding those chicks, she will jump up on your lap! She really will. I have a picture when she jumped up on Brock's shoulder when he bent over. She tried reaching in his shirt pocket for a piece of bread! LOVE the pictures!

Okay, interesting question........what do you think of me letting my last broody hen sit on DUCK Eggs? I am curious on fertility on these buggers....but really, who wants to brood ducklings during WINTER? yuck.

The more I think of it, it just sounds dumb. LOL.

I have the last 2 hens sitting on about 16 olive eggs. I have more than enough for another batch. All my roosters are cochins or the wheaten am boy, so all hens should be colored egg layers, although probably a lighter green color. Roosters should be decent eating.

I'd like some more leghorn mixes, but not so sure that leghorn/cochin crosses would be the way to go.....and this last olive egg batch of eggs had a single leghorn egg as a test egg and it was NOT fertile. The only one, darn it.

Okay, well, nevermind. I think i just talked myself right into letting her sit on 10 olive eggs instead. LOL.

Thanks Kathy! I've been stalking it on ebay. I think I got a good deal. I got Employee of the year which will formally be announced at our Christmas party (it's still a secret, lol) so I thought I'd take the $100 bucks ( I get a nice plaque too) I get and buy me something special!! So I just went ahead and got it!

The employees choose the winner. I just took a lower management/key holder like position and just happened to ask the GM who had won and she just kinda blurted it out. I've kept it quiet for about a month now and not sure how i'm gonna fake surprise, lol

I did! I posted my ugly mug in several stages of blech on that thread.

Brandon, congratulations on your job reward! That is awesome. Yes, you did well on the Hova. I paid $136 for that comb of turner and bator about four years ago.

Amy, all I could think of yesterday as Olivia passed was that at least she wouldn't have to go through all the stuff she did when we couldn't keep fluid out of her belly and whatever pain was in her abdomen from the gunk in her oviducts anymore. She was going to die, there was no doubt, but at least she did quickly after a spell of feeling normal and having a great time. She had been eating like a pig lately and gaining her weight back. She'd run, skip actually, across the yard, something she could never do when her belly was a huge water balloon. Was great to see her looking beautiful and happy again, even if only for a few weeks.

Today is Day 18 on my three Dellie eggs in my bator!
