He just wants somewhere to feel like home and I think that is an elusive dream, really. We were military. What was home is completely foreign to us now, so what does it matter, really? We just need no mortgage so we can have more freedom to do what we need to do to survive in this crappy economy.

Beth..you had to go there didn't ya? There is only one kid here at home unless you count Casca. Severus is not a complete wuss...just 97% wuss.

Hello all! It is cool here this morning YAY so I am going outside for a bit.

Yup, I went there- I was thinking Lancelot is still a bit too young to keep Polly happy!!!!
Whereas Ultrasuede, who is NOT making a transition to the Orp pen very fun, might like her. He certainly does NOT like his sisters or Katia and Valentina. And they don't like him. I am totally baffled. I put him in for a visit this morning, Valentina squatted for him and he whapped her. I put out treats, he clucked for his Del girls on the other side of the fence and chased the Orp girls away.

I give up. HOW am I going to get Delaware babies??? I have promised two people eggs next month!!!!

Cynthia, home here is temporary no matter where you settle, but I think you two will find somewhere that speaks to the heart enough to keep you content until you get to go to your real home. Someone will want that wonderful place- I think we need to talk to Germaine- and Tim certainly would like the milder winters, no? If Amy wasn't building her dream house, I'd say we could use Dellie mind control to work on her, too!

Joletabey, I think he will eventually get over it and take a liking to the new girls. He is male.........eventually he cannot withstand the lure of the female.......especially if those are the only females he gets

I would put him in with them and leave him there. Taking him in and out and letting him have his old girls back is just reinforcing to him that if he holds out long enough he will get his "favorite" girls back. Play some hardball, chica!

I have added.....4 new roosters to the yard since last weekend's hawk attacks. 2 Silver laced cochin boys and 1 blue cochin boy (all large fowl) plus my evil little bantam mottled cochin rooster. The blue cochin is breeding all the ladies although the head rooster (his father) will run him off if he gets too bossy about it. I have a blue wheaten ameracuana rooster out there who was incredibly timid while I had my big blue barred rock guy. Now that he is gone, the blue wheaten boy is stepping up...slowly.....There are a few assorted bantam rooster teenagers floating around but nothing too exciting. I expect to lock the evil bantam mottled cochin rooster back up into his private suite this weekend...he was going after the blind side of my half blind leghornx hen yesterday. Little jerk. She couldn't see him coming.

I borrowed his suite for 5 bantam cochin ladies who needed a transition pen to the big yard....they should be ready to bust out now and he can go back into solitary confinement LOL.

Made 3 x 50lb bucket feeders last night and got new hangers installed in the brooders, broody hutch and covered pen. Should be able to keep over 200lbs of feed on the ground at a time now. 100lbs inside the coop, 50lbs in the covered pen, 50lbs in the open front of the garage, 20lbs in the rooster pen and 5-10lbs in each of the small pens. I think I'll save a good half hour every day in feeding time....and hopefully will be able to just fill everything up on the weekends and it will last all week. Vegas is next week and I will be gone for 4 full days....longest vacation in years! The petsitter will have to refresh water but I'm hoping she won't have to do any feeding.

Maybe I can help you out there! I am shipping out some chicks on Monday, to California and to Idaho. I could also send out another package, for you ..... Alexander ! Believe me, he is a womanizer! He likes ALL of the girls! Otherwise, I would do like Nella says .... just put him in there and leave him. He will adjust.

Beth, I gotta throw my two cents worth in here too about Ultrasuede. Not only do you need to toss his silly butt in with the girls you want him to have, you need to cut off any visual contact he has with his favorite girls. If he can't see them, he'll forget about them all the faster.

Stick by your guns Girl! I'd be willing to bet that the end of next week would see him happily ensconced in his new flock and you sitting on the porch, enjoying a mint julep and the view of Ultrasuede being right where you want him to be!

**whispers on the wind to Polly** Stay where you are sweetie. Your momma is doing everything she can to help you through these broody times. Trust her! She loves you and only wants what is best for you. Always remember: Momma knows best!

Thank you, Amy! That's right ladies ...... Polly is stayin' put! Silly girl was the first to great me for scrambled eggs this morning. Yup, she is no longer broody, that's for sure! I expect she will give it another try here pretty soon though, don't ya think? I guess if she goes broody again, I will only move her at night time, instead of broad daylight. I think that was the mistake I made. Any other time I have moved broodies (at dark) they did stay put.

OK, I am putting on my big girl panties and going out and dumping Ultrasuede in with the Orp girls and that is that. Unfortunately I can't move them to where he can't see see the Dels, the compound is a U shape, but you are all correct, I need to do it and not give in to his winsomeness.

Just don't want him to hate me!!!

Kathy, I can't take Alexander for a couple weeks yet- I got held up finishing off a place for him and I need a couple weeks to catch up- but SOON!!!! I hope that is OK!

Beth, can you put a piece of corrogated tin, a long tall board, or even a tarp between the pens? That way he couldn't see the others. Would that work? Good luck!

No hurry on sending out Alexander. He will be here waiting for you!
