GMTA Tim! I have a little RIR cross out there that looks darned near identical to Nella's avatar. Her name is Gretchen. Lately, I've caught myself calling her "Little Nellabean". Strangely enough, she seems to know I'm referring to HER!

OK, you better explain the "finger test" cuz I'm over here imagining all sorts of lurid things!

HA! You and me both, although I think he means the vent testing. Shoot, my mind went straight into the gutter though! LOL

Tim, please do explain this in futher detail and I will go put away the red velvet curtains......

Lord have mercy, Yard that is bad news. If I recall your near 50yrs. You will have a harder time. Age descrimination is hard to prove but God is greater. Not a good fit is just a generic way of saying you didn't make the cut. Maybe if you had gotten the job you'd have ended up with an ulcer. The Lord knows.

Now to other posters.

The finger test is to take your bird and place your fingers near the two bones near her vent. If you can fit two fingers (side by side) between these two bones then she's laying. Also her vent should look white and wet. Try it with a young one who you know is not laying and then one who you know is laying and you'll see the difference.

Serrin what does GTMA mean?

Kathy that is good that he said that, wouldn't mind some one saying that about my place. Then again he wasn't from NYS was he? Most people here would rather live somewhere else even in a chicken coop. IMO.

Scott, you deserve good things and I'm sure they're coming down the pike in the job arena.

Dang, I think Fern is broody. Fern is the daughter of Dutch and Ivy, but she's doing this ominous clucking she never does.

What? Fern broody? Holy Crapola...how do you all get these broodies and I cannot get even one? It ain't fair I say!

Scott I am keeping you in my prayers...there is something greater and better out there for you.

Cetawin, if you need or want a broody.......I have 8 million. My half blind hen went broody again. She did a really great job with her last batch of kids.....they are the ones pictured a few posts back....and doesn't fit into my flock perfectly since going blind on that one side. She does fine but just doesn't seem 100% happy. But when she has babies, she is the happiest hen ever and does a great job with them. I have been trying to break my other broodies, but will let her set since it makes her so happy

DO YOU WANT HER?

No because if I take her she'll never go broody again...that is how my luck runs. I had one broody, one time. She stole eggs from every nest in the coop. I gave her precious Suede eggs and Isaac eggs and she pushed them away!

I am not meant to have broodies, I ruin them. LOL

Please come ruin my broodies. Please. Pleaaaaaaaaaaaase. I have that whole group of sisters. White leghorn x jersey giants. All 4 keep going broody over and over. Make it stop.
