Kathy, thats awful what's happened with you and the Coronations. I looked at her website, and this page just slayed me...

Yes, now YOU can make $19,000 in one year with only one hen! What a unique opportunity to make some extra income!

Reminds me of the Marans craze a few years ago, people just buying them to produce more to make money. Nothing about quality, just make that money. Where in the world could feathered legs come from????

Got a few pics of my "this year's crop" of blue rocks. Im getting much much better quality and color using my splash roo over my black hens. The blues I hatched a few years ago have some brown coloring, which came from using my hatchery barred rocks. I kept them because they are such good little layers, but won't use them for breeding. If I go back to using barred rocks, Ill need some hens like what Scott has to try that experiment again.

This is a young roo Im growing out.....yellow legs, yay!!!!!

And some young girls....

Kathy(Halo)....you have really added some size to the girls!!! They are looking great

Also.....yay on the yellow legged roo

In doing some research, "most" of the folks raising blue birds recommend breeding blue to blue...still haven't figured out exactly why, but that seems to be the norm.

I have a BR pullet picked out for you here too!!! Waiting on word as to when me and the breeder are gonna hook up on getting some white rocks

Just think...before long, we all will have some of the best looking birds around

Halo- what a beautiful bunch of blues- I especially like that last one. So splash over black got you that? wow!

Kathy- JUST REMEMBER - NO TURKENS!!!!!!

Scott- I hope you get a few more chicks out of all that waiting- got any more pics?

Cyn, you really make me want to learn to quilt- I actually looked at some of those gorgeous quilting mags in the grocery store the other day, and it's all way over my head, but there must be a "quilting for dummies" book out there somewhere!

Cetawin, you done with the stall yet?

I get to meet some BYC people today. There is a little lunch in Maggie Valley, I'll hopefully post some pics.

I hear more peeping!!! Guess the babies still not hatched are waking up!!!

I'll get some pix of Sugar and the babies later today....I'm planning to keep coops, etc today so I'll have PLENTY of time

ITSMYOBSESSION lives close by and she will be taking the Delaware chicks....another convert!! Little does she know what she's in for

Joletabay, Ive been looking into property in western NC for retirement (whenever that would be). What area are you in? Any hints or tips on where or where not to go?

Scott, love those mommy and baby pics!!!

Halo- it's beautiful here! There are all sorts of properties up for sale right now in my area- just whatever you do, do NOT buy a house on a steep hillside. There have been several slides in the Maggie Valley area and people's homes have gone right down.
Tell me more about what you are looking for - small farm? A couple of acres in the country? With buildings? Just land? The Waynesville area is really nice- that is where I am, in Canton. But so is Franklin or Brevard or Hendersonville- lots of culture and things to do if you stay within an hour or so of Asheville. And you will be within driving distance of Cyn, too!

One more Delaware .... well that is great. Hope the others hatch out, too.

I just checked my little black Silkie broody, and I heard peeping. I lifted her up and I see one big ol' pip. Looks like she is gonna hatch out today too. She has 6 eggs, and I wasn't even sure they were fertile, and didn't know when she was due. She had been hiding out from the 2 roosters for a month, it seemed.

Joletabay, that was some great information. A lot there for me to start researching. If I go north to NC, I won't take any horses with me; Ive done the keeping horses thru the winter, and Im OVER that. Of course, chickies will come with me. Ill be looking for a nice SMALL house with several acres. If up there is like down here, theres LOTS for sale now. I hope there will be when I get serious, but for now Im just looking so I know if and where I want to go.

Kathy, you'd better visit me if you ever come this way! We'd love to have you up here! And boy, would I love some more eggs from you one day! Your birds look awesome!

I'm almost recovered. My ankle suffered more than my arms, probably because I use hand weights several times a week.

Oh, look at Olivia! Isn't she the sweetest little hen? Her abdomen feels normal and her color is good-yesterday, I saw her run across the yard, just skipping like a kid!
