That little wench is givin' me more gray hairs than Carter's has little liver pills!
Good Twin?
BAAALLLLOOONNEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! Lisette is an absolute
angel by comparison! She's only been outside of her yard twice since she got here. Cosette on the other hand has already made acquaintances with The Boys, several of the girls and even coached Dottie in her morning egg laying this morning!
IN THE COOP!! I can
NOT keep that little hooligan where she belongs with her mother and sister, and therefore, out of
TROUBLE!! She is definitely the more adventuresome one of all three.
Maggie is doing quite well. She's had a number of stern conversations with the ladies next door, and I'm pretty sure the word is being spread among the flock that she is not one to trifle with, especially as concerns her children. To say that she is protective of her young is like saying that the Sahara Desert is a little dry!
But more importantly, she seems to intuitively know what constitutes a threat and what/who doesn't. Me, for instance
She readily accepts a nightly visit of me crawling up into the coop to join her and the babies for a little bed time cuddling session.
It's my most favorite time with them so far.
I'm concentrating mostly on Cosette right now, as she's the one I need to tame down the soonest, if she's going to keep pulling these silly stunts of playing escape artist. It's in her best interests to be amenable to being picked up without a fuss at any time, from anywhere in any yard
Lisette is no problem. Both times that she escaped with Cosette leading the way, she was eager to show what a good girl she can be by making a bee line back to her yard and the safety of Mother Maggie.
And she's just so darn cute and sweet when she does so! She has a quick kiss for her mama's cheek and then turns to scratching and pecking away as though nothing out of the ordinary had just happened.
Thanks for the pictures Kathy!
I really do have to get more pictures of them in their new home so you can see how they're doing. The weather the last few days has been miserable, and Elk season started Saturday. We're going back out again Monday morning, so that probably means a total wash for pictures that day.
*sigh* I am SOOOOO looking forward to about the 20th of November, when hunting seasons are all done, I've fulfilled my obligations in Tacoma and can settle down to concentrating on just the house and my babies! Life will be oh so sweet then!
The weather can do whatever it cares to then. We'll be ready for it!
