But she had a great life with you, and she went knowing she was much loved.

Neener, neener, I get to see Cetawin and Cheyenne and her DH and her chickens and I am bringing cheesecake, fruit topping and peanut butter torte.

Cyn - tell those little buggers to get a move on!

Kathy, I want your junk pile. I do. It has good stuff in it!

Nella, would you have to adjust the opening size for large fowl also? Those doors look bantam sized, too.

Braclin, I am glad your 'bator was there after all!

Brandon, I hope you march down there first thing Friday morning and give them what for!

And don't you let them charge you a single penny in overdraft fees! If you made your deposit on Saturday, at the very latest, the funds should have cleared the bank Monday morning! Our bank tried to pull the same lame act on us. H*ll hath no fury like my DH when it comes to monies being erroneously charged to our account by employees that couldn't find their own butt with both hands and a map!
4.gif
And don't let them give you the run around about how they can only credit your account for one of the overdrafts. Nope! Not acceptable! The overdrafts were NOT of your making! They are the bank's fault! Don't waste your time talking to one of the teller's either. They themselves will tell you that they don't have the authority to make changes to the fees like that. Ask for the branch manager. Don't even try to talk to anyone else. If needs be, make an appointment!

So glad your incubator was actually there! That must be a great next door neighbor to be thoughtful enough to pick up the package for you so that his/her dog wouldn't destroy it! Ummm...but why does their dog have access to your porch?
hu.gif
That doesn't sound very good. I sure hope that one minds its manners around chickens.

Do yourself a huge favor: Incubate a small hatch of about 6 of your own eggs first. That way you'll learn first hand just about everything you need to know before you risk expensive eggs! Just a nickel's worth of free advice. But do limit the number of eggs. Otherwise you'll end up like me with 18 little hooligans running all over the place and not a clue as to what to do with them in the middle of winter!

Thank heavens that 6 out of the 24 were duds! Can you just imagine???

Cynthia! Lock the coops and bar the gates!! And whatever you do, DO NOT accept any rush delivery parcels from Missouri!! It will be a little fluffy ticking time bomb of silkies from Kathy!!

Thanks Amy! It wasn't a good ending to a bad day to have that waiting on me in the mailbox. But the bator was!! My neighbor is my cousin and her pup has been getting in her trash so she was just concerned. He comes over and visits, but hasn't bothered anything or anybody here yet. He just checks them out and walks away. Well right now I have 26 eggs in the homemade bator, and I didn't candle them so who knows what i'll have in a couple days, lol . I'm suppose to have Barred Rock eggs coming soon from a BYC member as a gift so thats another dozen

So by the time they get here I should have this sucker figured out. Oh and Kathy is enticing me with Del eggs for the New Year's Day group hatch. My friends and family think I have an addiction if they only knew the half of it, lol

Hey! I just remembered! I promised some cute pics of Mama Maggie and the girls from tonight at bedtime! Well, here they are.

Maggie made sure she got them to bed ahead of everyone else. I guess she didn't like my choice of nest boxes from the night before, and wanted to make darn sure she got her pick tonight! Here she is with Lisette and Cosette in nest box #1 South.

Do you get the feeling that my nest boxes might be a bit small for a mama with two half grown little ones?

003-2.jpg

The two upstairs neighbor ladies seemed to be nice enough and fairly quiet, but Maggie rarely took her eyes off of them when they first came in and settled into their usual place.

FussyButt
and Brewenna
for their part didn't even notice Maggie and the girls!

Strange thing happened today outside. This was the boys first day in their new coop, covered run and scratch yard. In all the months that I've kept them in the large covered run for the day, they never once had any kind of confrontation with Chief. They all pretty much ignore each other when they're outside. But today, near bed time, I noticed Chief and Red having this sort of a staring contest going on with each other through the fence line. Now what the heck was that all about???? They would just stand there, staring at each other, for like 2 or 3 minutes at a stretch. Neither of them blinking, neither of them moving. And if one of them did move, the other matched him movement for movement. If Chief stretched up on his toes, so did Red. If Red put his head down and flared his hackles, Chief did likewise. Very strange. Here's what that little episode looked like.

005-5.jpg

Anybody else have their roo's do this? What's going on here? Oh, and for the first time last Sunday, since they were little, I heard Red crow! He hasn't done that since they were all first trying their hand at crowing. Red tried it two or three times back then...and then not a peep out of him since...not crowing at any rate. He does all sorts of other vocalizations to be sure. Just not crowing. Now, I can't shut him up!

Your thoughts are always welcomed. I just want to understand every aspect of my boys!
love.gif

Amy,
My boys do that all the time! They are fine out together, but if there is a fence between them, they do that!
gig.gif
It is funny to watch, isn't it? Yup, common here.

OH, the girls look great!
love.gif
They are so funny, aren't they!!!! I am sooooo glad you are enjoying them!

Beth,
I am so happy for you! Have tons of fun, dear friend!

Brandon,
Honey, you got the hatchin' bug, don't ya? That is all you can think about ..... hatch, hatch, hatch .... Ummm, what can I hatch next?
gig.gif
Oh, yes .... I do know the feeling, my friend! Have loads of fun!
