I do live in Ga, just one of the higher elevations. It's so cold out there, but guess what? After Charlotte starting back laying a couple days ago, another blue egg layer started as well as our little princess, Shadow! Nugget had started back, then went broody, but now I have three others as consolation for that.
Nugget was doing her daily meal/poop session, inside the coop, of course since it's very snowy. Tom said Shadow approached her, Nugget expanded herself twice over, gave the broody growl/cluck in warning, and all that did was fan the flames-Shadow jumped Nugget and was pounding her in the head and Tom had to push her off poor Nuggs. Keep in mind, Shadow may weigh a pound and Nugget is the largest hen in her coop, maybe 8-9 lbs or so. Shadow knows little fear in spite of her diminutive size, but Reba, who is 2nd in command in that small group, started chasing Shadow all over the coop, fussing her out for her indiscretion with broody Nugget.
Jo looks great! Can't wait to see her when she isn't a wooly-bear!
