Seamless Bands?

If you have true wild type mallards the 11mm band they have should work we have used them on black ducks and they should be about the same as mallards, or toe clipping is really easy.

Steve they r a week old now, is there a special way to toe clip so they dont bleed as much? Do you use a knife or toe nail clipper?

toe nail clippers or scissors, dont use a knife.
It's best to do them at a day or so old, they virtually dont bleed at all then. They still wont be bad now though, but if that's what you are going to do, go on and do it now, the longer you wait the more the bone developes in there, same with pinioning. At hatch, the tip joint is mainly just skin, so it just snips right off for you.

We use a side cutters but a good scissors should work fine to

I ordered some 11mm bands, at what age do I put them on?

supposed to be now to be marked (within 6 days of hatch I think is the rule) , but just do it once they fit and dont fall off.

Don't the Feds require a metal band? Pigeon bands are plastic are they not?

No plastic or metal those bands aren't coming off.
