I have a picker or two in the babies. This is the second or third time I have gotten the babies out in the morning and somebody is bloody. Its only on new feather growth on the backs. 3 of them are chewed, one was bleeding. Anything I can do to stop this? This is my 3rd year with babies, but never had this happen before.
Maybe when we move them to the bigger house tomorrow they'll be distracted? It looks awful.

Amy, I found the more time spent on grass each day the less picking there has been/was. For the little onesi built a simple hoop house with two landscape timber, PVC pipe and chicken wire. Shade cloth over the top to block the sun. Water pan and pulled to move to fresh grass every 2-3 days. Works very well as a secure daytime only playpen and they can graze, stretch and burn off energy.

Ended up putting parrot toys in the brooder house for night time boredom.

Its just at night. They are out from dawn to dark every day.
I know we used to use Sour Apple, but that wasn't on waterfowl. Maybe I need to to take some of the rubber dinosaurs from the adults to keep them busy at night.

I powdered the raw areas with quickstop... it hides the pink areas from further attack and it tastes BAD sooo they don't want to bite that area again.

Good idea. Its so random though- seems like its never the same spot or baby twice.Once they get out in the morning they forget all about it and it seems to be covered by dry down again by the end of the day.

Next time I go out I am going to raid the stretchy toy bin at wally world. Should have done it sooner

No pip and no tapping this morning. I candled and there was still movement, so I just pipped the egg myself and got the membrane off the baby's bill.

I have turned the humidity way up since there is a big hole in the shell and sprayed with my mister of oxine and water......
