sebright thread

here is what my sebright mix babies look like... possible dads.... silver hamburg roo, EE roo, old english bantium roo..

mom :)
I know this is over a year old but did you have pictures of the chicks as they got older. They looked like a hamburg/sebright mix and I'm dying to know what it looks like since I'll probably have a choice of either mixing with a silkie or sebright.

Hi Fellow Sebright owners/parents! I just got my chickens (a little flock of four) this past weekend and it includes two sebright hens. They were being kept in a pretty small bird cage so I'm feeling pretty good about them being able to peck and scratch at things. My sebrights are pretty skittish right now, I'm looking forward to them associating me with good things. Anyone know if they will get bigger than my serama hens? Currently both of my sebrights are smaller than my one serama hen and about the same size as the other. I'm wondering if the pecking order will change as the sebrights grow and get bigger. They're about four to five months old right now - can't wait to start seeing some eggs even though I know they aren't the best layers. Anyways, I'm happy to be here - thanks for all the great posts ahead of me - I've already learned a lot from this community.

Beautiful! I'm hoping to get some silver laced ones this weekend!

Hi everyone when you use these crossings

Silver Male x Golden Female = Silver females and yellow/golden laced males
Golden Male x Silver Female = Gold Females and yellow/golden laced males

Can you tell he chicks apart as soon as they hatch from either crossing?

Does anyone know how to tell the gender of silver seabrights at 5-6weeks? I have 8 that age. Three of them have fairly obvious combs and the wattles are just starting to show. The other five have no wattles and have very small pinkish rose like combs that are no bigger than the feathers on their head. Again the other 3 have combs that are significantly tall. I will try and take some photos of them in a minute.

This is the first time i have tried to raise sebrights. I bought them at 3 weeks of age from a lady. I noticed their crops were getting significantly compacted everyday after eating. I have never had this problem with other chicks. I have had them on chick starter crumbles and added some grit. i havent noticed anymore crop compaction thankfully.
