sebright thread

Well then it would seem like I may have 4/4 m/f. The one that I wasnt sure about is extremely mean to the other chicks. It bites the heads of all the others and refuses to let go. I decided to put it in its own tub next to the brooder. I repeatedly tried timeout with it for hours and even days with no luck. It is awfully sweet to me though. It loves to jump on me and fly up to my shoulder and sit down. If it didnt poop on my shoulder everytime at some point, I would probably have it out with me most of the time I am home on my ipad :)

One thing I forgot to mention, I am pretty sure the girl I bought them from said one parent was golden and one was silver. I am going to ask her again to be sure. If so, might I end up with a yellow colored seabright at some point or will their offspring always be one color or the other, or some kind of mix?

Here is what I read on another article... so assuming its correct here is your answer:
I am pretty new to sebrights, but buffs are a mutation from what I read, and gold and silver colors in sebrights are sexlink. This is what I have learned from other posters who are well informed on sebright genetics, (I am quoting from older posts I copied and saved for reference, I do not have documented the name of the poster)

"Since the father is the Silver Sebright, any pullets that hatched will be silver just like him. But any cockerels will be a "mix" of Gold and Silver.
And Vice Versa if the father was the Gold and mother was Silver: Gold Pullets, mixed Cockerels."

and another:

"When you cross a silver roo on gold hens you will get citroen(lemon) laced in black, it is very pretty. If you cross the gold roo to silver hens you should get sexlinks. The buff laced(chamois) are a mutation and didnt come from a silver x gold like people say."

Well.. I'm not a fan of pairs so I'm sorry for you! I prefer to have more hens, and with bantams its usually harder to get rid of extra roos (cause they aren't usually eaten).
I'm sorry your favorite is such a bully!

So I have the little bully on a towel by me while I surf the net tonight. Of course as usual it flew up on my shoulder, but I put it on the towel since I dont want it pooping on me on again. It wants to be right by me though and is cuddled up by my leg.

It makes the cutest little sound sometimes. It is like a cross between a purr and a cricket chirp.

Hi I have 2 females and 1 roo. When we got them at 9 wks old, he definately had the red comb (see one of my photos for the calendar) and has now developed into a weird flat topped bobely looking thing and its bright red. The hens don't have anything to show yet at 24 wks and still no eggs. Hope that helps.

Awwhh what a sweetheart!

Just put the towel over your shoulder =)

When I watch TV I put a towel on my chest then allow them to sleep there... I didn't even know they pooped til I asked my husband to help me get them and the towel up and he swooshed the poop on to me

That towel was there for a reason.
