Pics
I got my chicks from Privett hatchery NM. 5 died in transit, 1 in my brooder, now I'm down to 1 strong healthy one. I got more coming in March.

Hopefully I have a better survival rate this time around.
I bet you will. Hopefully the weather will be better.

YAY! I met a guy who lives about 80 miles from me who raises 'Brights. I drove to meet him, and came home with a par of Goldens and a silver Hen. I have to post pics, tho you guys may not like the quality of the birds or the pics. hehe I am tickled, tho.

This is Sir John

Sir John, again...

...and these are Lady Gold and Sylvia. They didn't pose outside for pics because they're a little bit skittish of me. Sir John hopped right up on my arm and onto the cage. then he hopped back onto my arm, studied me a few minutes, then back in with the ladies. I'm keeping them in a storage room upstairs as it's been bitter cold, of late, and windy. I'll build them a new tractor, tomorrow, and if it's warming, as they predict, they'll move out in a few days. I am now a member of the "Brights Club, I guess. I can't wait until my 5 Silvers and my (Silver Duckwing) Phoenix bantams come in, later this month. I ordered the Red-Breasted Phoenix, but they called back and said that they were not available during my shipping date. It's odd because after I ordered the Reds, I said, "I should have ordered either Golden or Silver Duckwings, as I already have my lil BBRed pair...Oh well." I guess it was meant for me to have these, doncha think? haha!

Oh, I also had to eliminate a 'possum that was climbing my apartment cages leg to get to the 3 young EE Roos and injured Hen in isolation. Watch those 'possums. I've had people say they won't kill a chicken, but I KNOW that to be BS. I've found them in the coop eating the chicken they have killed.

hey if anyone else says diff i think they are great lookin birds Co! my lil chick died lastnight so now im back to 0 sebrights.... oh well like you said... maybe it was ment to be... at last count we have 60 chicks... + almost a dz more in the bator then even more to come for easter!

Day-yum, Sarge! Your luck sounds like mine, at times. I hate you lost your lil bird. They say 'Brights are hard to raise. Also, thank ya'all for the positive comments. The guy that I got them from called them his "culls". I thought they were "purty", myself, so I bought 'em! ;)

I lost 2 of my game broody Hens, the past 2 days. Don't have a clue to what caught them, maybe the Fox. I've been busy, at night, and not doing my 0-dark-30 patrols. Patrolling starts again, tonight. I slacked and my lil Hens paid the price. I feel like kwap about it, too. Gonna have to change my sig to reflect the loss. sigh...one that I lost is that really interesting-looking, totally black Hen. Her skin, legs, comb, everything was totally black with just a bit of red to her wattles and comb. I really looked forward to seeing what chicks she'd throw. As with Sparkle, now, I'll never know. sigh...again.

YAY! Blackie and Goldie have returned, safe and sound. It seems Goldie (the golden Game Hen) has a nest, somewhere, and I don't know where Blackie was. They came back after 3 and 5 days missing, respectively. Sometimes, maybe I do win.

The Silver 'Bright Hen has resumed laying. As she was penned with all Silvers, and I have decided to try and hatch them. They're going in with the next 'bator clutch. How long after breeding are the eggs possibly fertile? I assume that an egg layed the next day would have a good chance. What about eggs, 2-3 days later?

OH! The TSC lady also told me that they had 'rights, last week. They are going to get thur-friday deliveries of Bantams, it seems. She said there were a good mix of silver and golden and they sold out in 2 days. She'll call the next time she sees any 'Brights in the "Bantee Mix". I may have more, soon. hehe

hello, cant believe i did not find this thread until now... i have a pair of golden and 2 of there chicks and a pair of silvers, not very good quality at all... they where sold to me as juveniles that where from SQ parents but the silver male has rooster feathers so I'm thinking they where just from a hatchery... i have 5 Golden's and 5 silvers coming from cackle hatchery to see how they look and to build my numbers... but now i have the option to buy 4 trio's of silvers and a roo and 5 hens golden... all are a year old and laying really good right now... he sent me pic's and they look to be very good Quality... i don't really have the money for that many and don't need that many so i am thinking i might buy all and then resell some of them...

i have a large incubator and what ever i have I'm going to set every egg that is layed and build numbers to cull down this fall to only the best birds...

ill be keeping up with this thread from now on :)
