@Faraday40 I also found that my "rarely broody" Sebright loves to hatch & raise chicks several times
I heard the same thing about my Serama's. I have a hen that just will not give up a nest box. She will pull balls of shavings in there to sit on.
I have some Silkies that are the bomb for broodies. But my little Serama's don't give up those eggs easily. They can barely sit on 3 of their own tiny eggs and we gave one a LF Wyandotte egg last year to see what she would do....she got herself and a buddy in that box and they shared that egg till it hatched into the best Wyandotte hen I own.
We let them have a few during the warmer months, but for the most part, "Swifter" my red Sizzle Silkie is the best.
@Faverolle Lover Congratz on your little "Jewel". I have found that my Sebright chicks are also demanding. They see you anywhere near that brooder and they chime in together for attention. (Which is sooo hard to give
) After a momentary hold and some sweet talk, they are both ready to go back in the brooder. It has been nice to have something different in there. So far, they have been great chicks. I hope I can find more.
Are there any hatchery places that will sex bantams that have some nice birds? I love my "itty birds" as my neice calls them. I am still looking for Golden breeders.
