Second baby baby shower?

I had one for my 2nd child..
We just looked at is as a celebration more than a gift giving thing..
I wasnt going to complain if they gave me diapers, wipes, loations, etc but I also wasnt going to complain if they didnt! I was just glad people came to support me

We spent way more on food and stuff than I would have gotten back in gifts..
Like I said.. I look at showers more as a celebration.
(Plus my moms feelings were hurt she didnt get to be involved in the planning of the first, so she took over for the second

)


If I had a 3rd I have a shower for it as well. Its been... almost 4 years by now.
Celebrate with a mother people!

I come from huge family, the oldest of 28 cousins on my moms side, 26 of us females. We still continue a tradition of all covenants and births are blessings and causes for celebration. We group together on costs, pot luck, the guys and kids go another house to play, and we have a blast. We do the practical and mix it up by being creative. I have been to showers where really expensive gifts were given, but one of the craziest ones was were the bride to be and fiancé took her children from a previous marriage with them to fill up the registry. Each kid got a gun to scan and the pages resembled a book. Toys games candy. Parents put down video games, electric gaming systems.toys and games ended up trashed, but it was the homemade quilt everybody helped make that they kept.

In out extended family the first kid gets a shower before they are born. All kids after that get a party after they arrive so we can all meet them. Usually we all bring small gifts for fun, but the real point is that each kid gets a party to celebrate their birth. Plus we all get to hold the smoochie little baby.

Other than family parties, I pretty much hate showers and avoid them like the plague. I also avoid Pampered Chef, Tupperware, ThirtyOne, candle and jewelry parties. Ugg. I do, however, make all the local chicken meet-ups.
