Two babies poking out from under mom View attachment 1698927
The little chick is fine. I went back up a couple hours later and it was not bleeding or red at all and the chick was all fluffy. It's running around today with the other chicks. We still have 4 eggs that need to hatch. Two were the younger developed ones and the other two should have hatched by now I feel like. What should I do?Is the chick ok?
If I had seen your post earlier, I would have suggested bringing it inside for a few hours, dab a little ointment on the belly, wait for it to get a little active, then sneak it back under momma. I hope it’s doing ok.
7 chicks hatched. I cracked open the unhatched eggs and they had started to develop and then stopped very early on. I'm taking my hen peaches back to the coop. She is a horrible mother. She scratches around in the bedding kicking chicks while she does it. She also fills the water up with shavings. She isn't attentive to the chicks at all.
Poppy does scratch around, but she is gentle about it and very aware of the chicks. She's been great with them. Peaches didn't seem to care much about them.Kicking is normal, but yes, some are better than others at watching over the chicks. Best of luck with the babies!! Post some pics when you can.![]()
