I started my peppers and tomaters almost 1.5 wks ago. I also have some onions coiming from Sandhill. Almost Everything I am using is organic from Baker and Sandhill. Has anyone else used thier seeds? I also have strawberries coming from Stark Bros. Anyone used them before.
Congrats on all the little seedlings! They are really nice looking.
This is actually my first year at setting seed indoors. What kind of light should I use? What type do you use mjdtexan?

Not a problem, Last year was my first year gardening as well only I took a huge interest and I spend at least an hour a day doing research on the subject. Thats not easy or practicle for everybody because most of you have families and work and all that to fill your day. Its understandable. Its addicting.

I am using a cheap 4 foot fluorescent shop light that you can get at any hardware store. I dont even have the full spectrum bulbs in it like I should. I will correct that for next season but I am not having any issues at all with the current set up. Its goes on at 6am and goes off at 10pm.

Did yall see that little cold frame on that link that Boyd left us? That little gem can do a whole bunch of good for gardenrers that dont have the space, time, money, or inclination to build themselves a green house.

HI all I'am planting my sprouted seeds in my egg shells this year. Then I can just plant the whole thing in the ground.

Question: it is hard to find a good eatting Tomatoes, that has a nice tomatoe taste with the acid kick?

HAPPY SEEDLING!!!

I took the plunge yesterday and ordered one..... should be here next week. I ordered 16x32 and I figured it could serve as a chicken brooding area for the summer time!

This place is awesome and very well priced.... I will let you know what kind of quality it is when I get it up. But with all this snow, I may not get it up until late March.

Here is the link. http://growerssolution.com/page/GS/CTGY/hobby

Yep, transplanting out the cukes and some tomatoes today, and seeding the second batch of transplants. Peas are up, and going to get the strawberries in this weekend.

I started a few heritage tomatoes and peppers. I usually just buy the young plants but decided to do something different this year.

Bare Bottom, there are no good eating tomatoes from the large stores or nurseries. They just sell starts of the same blah varieties in the grocery store. I'm lucky to have a garden society near here that has an heirloom plant sale in the spring. Tried 6 last year, oh so good! (Arkansas Traveler, White Currant, Royal Chico, SubAcrtic Plenty, German Red Strawberry, and Yellow Banana) The White Currant was sweet and acidy, it is a cherry tomato that is light yellow, and prolific (I got sick of eating them

) I've made of list of about 20 I want to start myself, need to pare it down. Seed Savers Exchange has the best selection I've seen, good descriptions too.
