When did the breed club elect to go with Self-Blue?
To be 100% correct, the breed club didn't elect to go with anything as far as Self-Blue Cochins go. Once we get to the point where we want to organize a qualifying meet, which I am about 100% sure I'll coordinate, we'll cover that, but as you can see by rilly10's post, since Self-Blue is already a recognized color, it makes no sense to call them anything but Self-Blue, as the APA did with the Self-Blue Silkies. There are other things required for the qualifying meet besides just the numbers in the show and the 5 breeders. You have to put up money to offset the required changes in the standard, and you have to submit the proposed textual changes to the standard, which will be easy, since the shape description is the same and we can refer to the Self-Blue color description, which is already in the standard. That hasn't even been broached with Cochins International, although, I may bring it up as new business at the Crossroads meeting, just so the club knows my intent, but we are still 5 - 6 years from that qualifying meet taking place.
I have four Self-Blues entered at Crossroads just to get some visibility on the progress to date.
Just curious who's asking the question? One of the things I don't like about screen names or whatever they are called is that you never know who you are talking to.
