Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

I was reading the latest posts minutes ago, and to my unbelievable disappointment-a hawk of some kind swooped down and snatched the innards from my lavender. I walked outside and heard large wings flying away and the girls were all statues and staring at the same area, I followed their gaze and saw "Venus" and feet away her innards.I must have interrupted his feast. Son of a B%$@! Sad Day for Me.

I am SO sorry. I surely know how devastating it can be. In all my years of chickens, only once did a fox get into a small hole in one of my runs and stole 5 rare Araucana girls that I so cherished!! It was devastating. I'll never get over it. I usually hug my dog and eat when pooh happens. SO SORRY!

Bobbi,

The Lavender Roosters tend to have the darker coloring in their hackles. Bren says it might just be a male issue. Both of mine have the darker in their hackles, except for my Showgirl Rooster, but of course he doesn't have any hackles.

3rd week of College and I am exhausted already........ I have 4 years, LOL. I'm glad I'm going back though.

He has very nice type, however, I'm going to say that he is not a Pure Lavender. He has alot of coloring through out his body. They usually only have the darker hackles, and sometimes a few in the tail.

Slaney's pic is a very good pic of what you should be looking for color wise.

I thought he had too much color too, but he was clear till he was 8 months. That's why I told her not to be so sure about Lavender yet with that chick. Isn't Slaney's bird beautiful!? I have two from Deb and one has lovely color like that and the other has a bit of dark in the hackles, but has an awesome comb and no wattles. I've got them with some of mine and I can't wait to see what grows up. Gonna have to get some of Slaney's babies
