Self Blue (Lavender) Silkie Thread

Our latest hatch Lav chicks - the two on the left. They are from Bren's line. Very pretty soft Lavender color. Thanks Bren.

I seriously doubt this chick is actually a lav - though I can't figure out what to call it.

(the middle) definately black in back and blue up front - the middle chick can not be a washed out splash atleast my limited base of color genetics says not as the only chickens I had at the time of their conception were : Black roo over a white hen and 2 buff hens. so i assume the pale mystery chick and blue come from the white who was masking blue? this chick has been colored the same since day 1 - very pale silvery periwinkle kind of color.

Anyway just curious I knew nothing of the parents genetics though I remember the lady I got them from said that one was sold to her as split lavander (but can't remember which one) though of course this is same person who said I was picking up 4 hens and a rooster but ended up selling me 2 rooster and a hen (i knew on sighting but didn't care i got them for practically free as they were desperate to downsize and I was taking other poultry too)

finally, after 2 years of breeding blacks to lavs-I got enough chicks I wanted to keep to breed split to split-so I hope I get a few??? With winter coming and the broodys dwindling and after 8 months of waiting for them ( splits) to start laying-here's my chance. Im only getting 2 eggs a day from 6 pullets so far but hey Ill take it:) I wont get that incubator back out now-too late in the season for me-I need to make sure those babies have alot of fluff on them before it gets too cold!
